Sorry, but I had to post this somewhere. It'll only mean anything to UK posters and, as it's a bit..er..tasteless, I'm only going to post it as a link twitpic.com/b2s4lr

Yesterday Harry Metcalfe, who is the founder of EVO magazine, asked if auto dipping headlights are the most annoying feature ever invented. Some random tweeter responded with "No. That'd be watch reviews in a car magazine."
Has anybody seen James' watch section in the latest Top Gear magazine? As a watch fan, I'd really like to get a copy of that.

amie8, my grandparents, father, mother and father in law were all cremated and have memorials in Woodlands cemetery (Scarborough). I'm glad that memoral has been removed, apart from being far too ostentatious, in the present circumstances it seems very fitting it has been removed.

Those on Twitter will have seen James's tweet referring to the fact that he is off to Berlin to film for a new science series, and that his piece would be about music. Anyway, I've tracked it down. Looks like he will be a contributor to "Dara O'Briain's Science Club", which starts next Tuesday. Also looks like a rerun of his music-by-computers bit in "Big Ideas". It's easier to just post a link to the BBC press release than to quote chunks of it here: www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2012/dara-o-briains-science-club.html

James has been filming in South Wales again (where he was last month) and a girl has tweeted
'James May just drove through the Coldra McD's drive through and stuck his tongue out at my mother...she was only admiring his hair..... it was definitely him because only he would wear a jumper like that'
She has tweeted James to tell him, and he has responded like the gent he is
I thought she was looking at me funny like. #Soz
However, there is no problem
she's still giggling like a loon so all is forgiven x)

That's perilously close to a beard. Not that I'm complaining - he's looking rather fetching and it's a while since I've thought that.

From the Soldier Support Service on twitter Did they post on Twitter where and when the photo's were taken? It looks like a very warm and arid place.

The pics were posted on twitter by soldieruk. He is selling the T-shirts and wristbands to raise money for military charities. There doesn't seem to be any specific information as to where and when the photos were taken, but agreed, seems like desertish conditions and fairly recently, looking at the length of James' hair. They were in Uganda and thereabouts at the start of October - could it have been there? (And if they had just filmed an epic journey for the Christmas Special they would probably be stubbly.)

I have to agree, Uganda. Arid climate but with some serious clouds behind them (It's rainy there this time of year), they look like they've been through the wringer on a dusty journey, they are all together, it's recent and May and Clarkson are wearing what looks like Ugandan bead bracelets. I should go to bed. ;D

Jeremy and Richard tweeting their way through immigration last night had me giggling myself to sleep. Allegedly the queues were so long they picked up all sorts of new skills ;D My favourite: @jcrclarksonesq: James has discovered a new element. I'm on to grade 6*. Hammond's getting good at Spanish. (*he previously tweeted "I'm learning the piano actually. Keeps me calm.") Watch out, America - the boys are in you, and they're clearly in a very silly mood

I don't really think they are in Vegas because it's too obvious. Jezza had mentioned going to Mexico. Maybe they drove to Arizona or New Mexico. In New Mexico you have to go thru a huge crowd from Juarez. Border Patrol really take their time. Hopefully we'll get some twitter pictures of where they are. The Indian Casinos have all the amenities they would need.

I'm going to take a shot in the dark and guess that they might have stopped at the Cal-Neva Resort & Casino, straddling the state line between California and Nevada. It would only be about 600 miles south the the Mexican border but maybe there are interesting sidetrips or they'll head further into Mexico than Tijuana

My guess is the casino is The Cosmopolitan in Vegas and by the end they will in up in Baja. Shall we all place bets? This might be good sport. ;D

If you really want to turn tech, they flew into a large international airport (LAX or LV) hence the long line at immigration, then calculate the time lapse between them tweeting from there and posting the casino pictures.
Very sophisticated of you, AM, guessing the actual casino

Well, they've said on various occasions that they're going down to Mexico soon, and Jalopnik seem to think that ties up with this trip... I'm not convinced, but they're bound to go there eventually!
