Funny how all the strange people on twitter also reside on the JMB.... No peace for the mad woman!

James himself this morning seems to have summed up the whole Twitter situation:
It's Twitter; it's bollocks. don't over-analyse it.

He's still awake, and just responded to you, dit! You lucky girl.
Twitter is most definitely bollocks. It's for fun, and sometimes you connect. Most often not. It's just a good day when I get a reply or retweet from those I'm a fan of.
Edit: Oooh, reply to me! I wish I got the Mr Warwick reference, though.

Unfortunately, Twitter is proving bad for my constitution - and my bank balance. During the late night session last night, I got genuinely upset and frustrated that he answered everyone who tweeted him EXCEPT me. I'm really starting to think he's got it in for me, which is not a good situation for a devoted admirer like myself, whether or not it's imagined. I wish I could get a grip, but it's turning me into a pathetic teenager.
And when I get upset and frustrated, my bank account suffers. It's an ill wind etc etc, and the beneficiary in this case is Amazon. Lucky them!
At least I have the arrival of some useless stuff to anticipate

I'm sure it's nothing to do with you. Absolutely sure.
I do have one thing in common these days with James and that's an addiction to my iPad. So recently, I went on an iPad detox and it did me no end of good! Can I suggest to those of you getting fed up with Twitter (I still haven't posted anything on it and won't!) that you go on a Twitter detox? It's really healthy.....( ; The only thing I'm addicted to on my iPad now is the magic piano (which really is excellent and makes me believe I can play Bach) and use of Internet and personal emails. Phew!

I agree it's completely ridiculous, Crumbs.
And guess what I just ordered....
(actually, it's a Kindle Fire. I know it's a poor man's iPad, but I'm a poor man, so fair enough)

James himself this morning seems to have summed up the whole Twitter situation: It's Twitter; it's bollocks. don't over-analyse it. he does have moments of genius then - i was beginning to wonder I'm sure it's nothing to do with you. Phew! I couldn't agree more Crumbs. I too have fallen foul of the same situation Amie8 finds herself in - and at times i'm convinced he hates me - but then i have lucid moments and realise actually i don't tweet him that often Dettox is the way to go - i would go as far to say avoid the internet altogther! Its very easy to get caught up in the interwebs and before you know it, its an addiction; its the first thing you turn on in the morning and its the last thing you turn off at night - if in fact you do! I have found it so beneficial to step back and avoid twitter and the internet actually altogether for a few days. Read a book, listen to music or even better combine the latter with a good long walk!

I'm sticking with James' own perception
It's Twitter; it's bollocks. don't over-analyse it.
Yes, I've had moments when I felt I was being ignored, and then the pleasure of having a response. I try not to tweet James unless I feel I actually have something to say, and I'm trying to limit my tweets. If in doubt I remind myself that the man does have over 350,000 followers. after all! I agree, jacqui, it's as well to try to have a break. My internet is connected most of the day, but that's really for convenience, I'm actually not on it that much. And a good long walk seems an attractive idea - though today I think it would be a good long swim!
Crumbs - magic piano? That sounds like fun! I don't have an iPad and I have no idea what a Kindle Fire is - I was saving up vouchers for a free Kindle through a newspaper, but when I got enough and looked up the details it isn't actually a Kindle and it wouldn't download from Amazon, so there's not much point - grrr!

www.smule.com/magicpianoIf you can play the piano, avoid - stick with the real thing. But if you can't, this is great. I can now play Bach, Debussy, Schumann, and several songs by people I've never heard of!

That looks like fun - I'm guessing that the App throws the circles (notes) down the screen and you have to tap them with the right timing for that piece of music? I think I could enjoy doing that - and I can play the piano!

It is but I've just got the 'church organ' and it sounds absolutely dreadful which is disappointing as I've just acquired a rather good Bach fugue. Doh!

I agree with the Twitter and perhaps full blown internet detox. Yesterday I didn't even look at the internet until very late in the day. My mother asked me to look something up for her. I didn't even realize I hadn't been online all day. I got errands done, watched some television with MOH, played with the cats... it was nice. Twitter is definitely not a serious deal. James is 100% correct. ;D ;D However, I do love my ipad. I have a crossword/spelling game on there that I'm quickly becoming addicted to.

It seems a small war has broken out in James' corner of Twitterland. Admin are aware. It's bigger than Twitter and it's a bit of a mess. *MOD HAT OFF* I don't do 'public' fandom on Twitter any more, and I don't advertise my 'fandom' account, because I don't want to get involved with that side of it. I'd start to hate it very quickly these days. Some of us 'old school' fans are definitely starting to feel squeezed out of online TG fandom. Perhaps it might be better if the 'new school' fans stuck to the 'new school' sites like Twitter and Tumblr, and left us old farts with our old fashioned forums and journals...

I have to say that is utter piffle. You can still operate in both situations. One is more instant than the other that is all. Any 'wars' that go on (an I'm assuming your on about my sit over there is manly due to trolling) flairs up then goes away just as quickly. To have a newbie exclusion just means yes you will be old school but also very limited in what you do.It should not have to be one or the other. Here is light years away from there. Here you can talk to people and get close relationships.'There' is just loose chat. I understand that people don't get on with Twitter because of the nature of it but don't exclude anybody who likes to do both.

I understand that people don't get on with Twitter because of the nature of it but don't exclude anybody who likes to do both. That's a bit uncalled for. Before you dismiss things out of hand, you should try being the referee in some of the stuff I've had to sort out lately! I'm sorry you've been having problems on Twitter, and for a lot of these things you're right - they do flare up and they go away again. However, it wasn't your particular issue we've been trying to sort out, but something with a direct impact on what we do here. It has been bloody hard work over the last few months, so it's not surprising some of us are doing a bit of serious thinking at the moment. Nobody is actually talking about excluding anyone, just that fandom's supposed to be fun for everyone involved and at the moment for some of us it's more like hard work. There's room for different people to enjoy it in different ways, but the really vital bit is that people respect those differences, because sometimes they don't. Change is necessary - nothing stands still - but we're going to have to make sure it's change that first and foremost works with the spirit of the JMB.
