Can we all try to get #jamesmayhappyhour trending?? He said he's having a pint at 7:30pm. Which is just over an hour away. He said he wanted us all to join him, do lets all have a Pint with James May at 7.30!

Hello. Thought I'd do a big bump of this thread, as I couldn't think of a more appropriate place to test this out. The "James on Twitter" thread came to a sticky end, but both he and Clarkson are using Twitter these days and their tweets are often amusing and - sometimes - even informative. Perhaps we could use this thread for discussing the Twitter activities of not just those two, but anyone who is of interest to the board members.
If the focus of the thread is the tweets and tweeters themselves, rather than the activities of their followers, we should be able to steer clear of controversy. If the mods, or anyone else, thinks it's still a dicey subject, I'll shut up about it. In the meantime, Clarkson has tweeted:
"Last night, over some wine, James May and I agreed to work on a project together. This morning, I can't remember what it was"

I agree with you, amie8. It would be nice to be able to discuss their tweets as well as any others that might be of interest. Not everyone is on Twitter, and I'm sure they would like to see what's going on. ;D

The guys are posting some interesting, intriguing tweets at times and as long as this thread concentrates on that i think Admin will let it run and see how it goes. It will of course be closely monitored. Perhaps admin may move it to a locked thread? I loved Jezza's tweet about watching Sir Richard Hammondborough talking about animals this evening! Good to know they support each other, even if it did drive Jezza out for the evening ;D

That's excellent. I don't have twitter and would be very grateful if the funny comments could be posted for the likes of me!
(the reason I haven't got it is tortuous and would be a dissertation in itself)

I think it's been mentioned somewhere on the JMB that Jeremy should make more of his serious documentaries.
Earlier today he tweeted, in response to
Every few months I watch The Victoria Cross: For Valour, fantastic, well done.
the reply
Thanks. I'm working on another at the moment

James is having motorbike trouble again, specifically how to keep the bike steady while he unscrews something. He has tweeted this little glimpse into the domestic dynamic of May Towers:
Good news! Woman has agreed to hold the bike while I mend it. For up to five minutes!
and later
Honda job took just two minutes. I have three minutes of garage assistance in the bank.
Made me laugh.

I was in an equipment sales room on Friday when I saw this. The salesperson couldn't understand why it made me laugh.

From EmClarkson01 Now I don't won't to accuse anyone here of driving a Toyota Prius but if it was you doing 30 in a 50 for 23 miles you should be ashamed. Retweeted by Jeremy Clarkson

Cycle lifts are pretty common and not that expensive. I'm surprised James doesn't already own one.

You know, I wasn't really looking that hard (ahem...), but I couldn't help spotting the following tweets on @mrjamesmay: "hi James, you are visiting West Whelks on the 24th, can you please have a picture with my father Graham and sign anything 4 me !"and "James ,u r completing a Whelk adventure on the 24th May @ West Whelks..." The company really exists, and the tweeter appears to be a member of the family that runs it. Now - who'd like to guess what a whelk adventure is!

westwhelks.co.uk/Don't know what he's going there for but they're very proud of their oysters, though it isn't the right season. I know what's said about oysters, but I've never tried them so I can't prove the veracity of the rumours!

I'd bet there'd be a few people from this board volunteering for that little experiment! TAXI ;D!!!

A special post-watershed episode, maybe?
Definitely sounds up Manlab's street - maybe it's to do with gathering one's own food. That would be most manly!

The man has made me roar with laughter just now. He's been tweeting prolifically all morning on a range of topics including transfering from playing the piano to playing the harpsichord, and inventing emoticons ("I second that emoticon"). He's even waxed philosophical/metaphysical on the subject of maths,
"Is maths part of the universe or did we put it there?"
"Hang on. Could the universe's apparent predictability be an illusion caused by the limits of maths as a language?"
Then eventually a lady called Julia asked a most astute question, and got the succinct answer that caused me to splutter coffee
"Asking big questions. Answering tweets. Inventing emoticons. What boring piece of admin are you putting off doing today James?"
"VAT return."

I'm pretty sure it's Jeremy's daughter Emily. They've tweeted to each other about some quite domestic things like her 'A' level exams, so I can't imagine she's not authentic.
