He's been discussing Clare Balding (the charming but no-nonsense sports presenter who he met at the Grand National). My favourite, when read in conjunction with the hashtag:
"I should say that I've met Clare and she's smashing. #butIwasscared"

Well, I tweeted James about adopting one of my kittens. I sent one with a picture of Cribbage. Then I tweeted him a picture of Snooker. then I realized that I had tweeted him the two pictures in response to his tweet where he said that he was hungry and was going to get lunch (complete face palm moment even if it is a bit funny). So then I sent him a third tweet in which I told him that I did not mean to imply that he could have kittens for lunch. I felt like such an idiot. I didn't get a reply from him ( ) but I hope he got a good laugh out of it if nothing else.

He's overdosed on cheesey pasta today I think it made him a bit hyper ;D Started spouting shakespear crossed with cheese. One more tweet and i was going to reply along the lines of... God man shut up - you made, you ate it, now live with the consequences #bardoncheese ;D

I notice Richard finally got in on the act properly - him and James throwing insults and discussing how underpants work made my Wednesday ;D

He continues to really be in the swing of it - his Shakespeare cheese re-workings this afternoon were not only clever but also rather obscure (the last one was originally tucked away in 'The Merchant of Venice') and he's just come on again, mock-complaining that his followers seem to assume he's drunk when in fact "I've been to a recital of French piano music and then to a dry Lebanese cafe."
I must admit to rather liking the sound of his life-style (even disregarding Top Gear etc). Tonight I fed the cat, shaved my legs, washed my hair and wrote a shopping list. No comparison, huh?

Can anyone explain to me what governs which tweets appear on his page? I often see Morgan and Nat on there, but not Afar or Aeromanda, for example. Does he choose, or is it something else? #justwondering (!!!)

If you want to see all tweets on his feed, copy @mrjamesmay into the search box at the top, then select "All" tweets. Then, brace yourself....

My understanding of twitter is basic however if he tweets a statement it will show up. If he tweets to someone it may not unless they have tweeted back. For instance Hammond tweeted six or seven tweets and I noticed one mentioned Jezza. Jezza has tweeted but to other people. I follow him and his were @someone or other answering questions or being obnoxious!

I've been using the system amie8 describes for some time, before James actually created an account. it's a good job I'm a fast reader!
Since they finished I've been missing James' Telegraph columns, particularly his humour, so I'm really enjoying his tweets. This one today had me LSLIFTC (Laughing So Loud It Frightened The Cat)
Woke up this morning with absolutely nothing to say. This never happened in the blues

I thought that tweet was quite telling. Yesterday we had cheese and Shakespeare. It's funny someone tweeted Jezza that his tweets were like a middle aged man and he replied that they could unfollow.

So far, James hasn't risen to any bait - and he gets plenty, but I don't suppose he ploughs through all the hundreds of tweets he gets every day.
I also follow Dara O'Briain and he often gets his knickers in a twist over rude comments from his followers and tries to insult them all back. Makes for boring reading!

Naturally, it's followed immediately by a bunch of his followers whining about the show not being as good as it used to be. Poor bloke can't win

6 months for 6 episodes? I sincerely hope they produce something decent. A season in the US is normally 22-24 episodes and they are lucky to get 6 weeks for filming. Honestly, I thought series 18 of TG was awful. I don't know what happened but I'm hopeful with more time they will produce a better product...not like I'd tweet that to any of them though. I do have my limits of rudeness ;D

I think you're talking about drama, though. A good one takes more like six months to shoot, with the first episodes going out while they're still filming
Top Gear isn't a drama (well, it's not supposed to be, anyway), shot on a permanent set. Pre-production includes finding and acquiring cars, getting permissions - often abroad, finding locations - also often abroad, getting builds done (which involve a whole army of people) working out a script, getting the presenters and crew to their location, actually shooting, editing, post production, voiceovers etc etc and there are usually three or four items per show. And that's without the studio filming. And without the fact that they all have other jobs.
I can totally see why it would take them six months.

I do have my limits of rudeness ;D Six months per series is normal for Top Gear, and they've been at 6 - 7 episodes per series for a few years now. Personally, I'm with the wider fan community - I'm hoping for much more like S18. With the exception of the Sweeney film, reaction has been pretty solidly positive in the UK and I think it's the best work they've done in years, with less cocking about for the sake of it and much more balanced content. But each to their own
