James has been filming today at the Graduate Fashion Week show at Earls Court 2, at the big catwalk event. Apparently the boilersuit designs he got students to create for Man Lab are causing a bit of a fuss, now they've been seen on the catwalk. Remember the complaints with the plasticine garden, "real" gardeners bleating about 'lowering the tone' etc? The same thing's happening again, this time "real" designers upset. James' stuff went on after the proper show, and some people enjoyed it, one described it as "Mental!!!" (in a good way). If I get any more I'll pass it on. As I don't want to spoiler again I'll give a link to a pic of James at the event (but nothing that would be a spoiler as it's from too far away, but thought some might like to see it anyway) www.mobypicture.com/user/Own_Label/view/9717175And this is a link to a magazine that will be carrying an interview with James at some point. fameonline.co.uk/

I suppose someone has to...

Liverbird, thank you for the link. Very attentive sleuthing. Not sure I fully understood the cover-alls but, oh my. Mr. May with his hair all combed back from his handsome, handsome face. UH! Delicious. Puts me in mind of my avatar. How is he getting hotter? Now, I have to be typically me and criticize. I hate the belt and why are his pants too short? I know I pick on him but, I can't help it. It's the mother hen in me. He's just too lovely and fascinating to not be fussed over. Pick, pick, cluck, pick, pick.

I am going to laugh myself into a fit when this show finally airs, I just know it. ;D I somehow managed to resist it for now. *glares at hole in my jaw* Not that I'm much of a fashion expert myself but I just don't see those catching on.

Just had a look at the other suits on the catwalk (the page livebird posted). Got curious about the one with deer horns at the back ;D Other..err..interesting fashion statements there as well. One thing, though: if I ever get married I WILL NOT want my man to walk down the isle in a boiler suit...even if it was designed by Mr May. Edit: ..or even if the man in question was Mr May himself (Girl can dream can't she? :

Good to see James is still not afraid to take the p*ss out of himself! His mock-serious catwalk expressions are a scream. Some of the comments made by the students last night clearly showed an irony by-pass though, such as, "James may's catwalk debut successfully cheapened graduate fashion week"How serious did they actually think he was trying to be? To me, he seems to deftly sit on the fence between serious investigation and whimsical humour, and he does it very well, in my opinion. One of the more pleasant comments was that the students who were designing for him (as far as I know that was the brief, rather than he designed the whole thing himself) were told they had to come up with the male equivalent of the Little Black Dress, something that could be worn for work, then evening or formal. That might explain some of the details! The tightness suggests that perhaps he's lost a bit of weight..... He's one more pic they didn't use

I was thinking a Thunderbird - deffo not Virgil. I also thought the vision in blue was missing something, like a cravat, then he could be jaaaaaag man!
As a catwalk clotheshorse he makes a very good motoring journalist - James, please don't give up the day job.
*tries to mince away from the forum a-la James*

As for the Thunderbird character, I shall have to put some deep thought into that, it's the blue and the belt, or the wet has leaked into my brain

The organisers of the Graduate Fashion Week are at great pains to point out the seriousness of the task:
James May is not actually launching a line. All clothes were designed by the students.
and
James May's man lab is getting loads of tweets.. His new show will be showing the hard work that goes into being a designer.
Though I rather like this random tweet
Now is it me, or does Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy" come to mind?

I had to do a similar thing when I was in fashion college. It was to redefine clothes for all seasons basicaly take a suit and make it multi functional. It's not as easy as it looks.

Blimey - what's all this then? A hoot blatantly! Firstly, where's his hair gone (again?). Secondly, love the mock serious modelling pout - actually, I find it a bit of a turn on.
Thirdly, does anyone else think the boiler suit look is ,weeeell, a bit, gay? If it was worn by anyone but James, of course! I think it's the hankie and shirt that does it....overalls need oil and paint to be sexy.
Re the pic taken by Charing Cross - glasses are gorgeous, hair's too short and I love the shirt, even if it does look like it belongs on a 3 piece suite!

James should be getting worried. Most of the Daily Mail readers actually seem to like him a lot. That can't be good news. ;-)

I think the more unpleasant side of the press is being kept busy taking a pop at Clarkson, with or without justification. James, on the other hand, appears to have done nothing but bumble his way intellectually through hours of quirky television, being endearing and terribly, terribly British. No wonder the Mail is growing to love him!

I just read the fail's comments - one person called him a national treasure. Sweeeeeeeeet! lol.
I'm thinking that the other two are going to turn up to work in boilersuits in the near future. lol.

Ok, I'm pretty sure James was speaking, but I got caught up in his slight stripping sequence. I'll have to watch that again... and again...
