I think (hope!) it's a lot of make-up combined with the fact he's not as knackered as when the comparison pic was taken. Can you imagine the ribbing he'll get from J+J about this?!?

According to the Anne Rice "Vampire Chronicles" books, becoming a vampire does wonders for the complexion, so maybe he has!
Seriously though, the second photo is taken with flash, as opposed to studio lighting, which will always hide wrinkles better.

Well if he has gone all vampiric, he can bite my neck anytime. Well, any time that Andy isn't already attached to it. Err... TAXI!

He's obviously just as wrinkly. The right-hand shot is a flash directly in the face; the other has light coming from above to throw the lines into relief.
Also, I read the subject heading as "Has Mrs. Hammond had Botox" 'I know she looks youthful, but why would anyone go after Mindy?' thought I

Worlds collide: David Mitchell threw some snark his way Its claim seemed modest: "Four in 10 women over 50 told a survey that some of their most trusted beauty essentials cost less than £5." It went on to list some of the cheaper products that women apparently prefer to top-of-the-range beautifying agents.
You could be forgiven for thinking that this is the very definition of non-news – a minor coup for the marketing department of a petroleum jelly conglomerate. But in a world where Richard Hammond, that pocket battleship of masculinity, can be accused of having age-defying injections, it means so much more. It is the harbinger of a profound societal shift.www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/apr/17/david-mitchell-men-beauty-products
