I've decided that I want to put together a car website/blog. I know there are lots out there, but I want a slightly different emphasis, with the focus on editorial and opinion rather than reviews and breaking news, because I'm not positioned to get much in the way of those things at the moment. I'm also particularly keen to get female motoring enthusiasts involved, because our voices are so rarely heard in this arena. Whether you drive a classic car, or you shout at the telly when the F1's on, or you like to thrash supercars around a track, or you just enjoy finding nice B-Roads on a sunny afternoon, if you care about the direction the technology's taking, or you just hate getting stuck behind a bus/tractor/old bloke in a Nissan Micra wearing a hat, I want your input.
I'm hoping to find a regular core of people to form the basis of the editorial team, people with strong 'voices' who might be able to manage an article a month, but I'll be glad of any contribution. Obviously, the site will have a strong UK bias and a very British editorial voice, but it would be brilliant to have 'international correspondents' too ;D
Of course, if you happen to have manparts, that doesn't exclude you from joining in. If you want to give it a go, it'll be most welcome.
So what am I looking for in articles?
Essentially, I'm looking for pieces that are motoring related, with an underlying sense of humour and about 1000 words in length. Photos and illustrations would also be great but obviously they need to be original and to have no copyright issues. Although the main focus is going to be cars, motorbikes are welcome too, and articles on motorsport are very welcome indeed. Oh, and if anyone's up for designing a layout, that would also be fantastic, because I'm not very good at coding...
Perhaps I'm a bit bonkers. Perhaps it'll crash and burn. But hey, Lamborghinis and Ferraris burst into flames all the time, and they're fabulous, so it's got to be worth a go. I've no idea where it's going, but that's very much how I drive.
Any thoughts?
