So - Skyline?

Gosh, I don't know. Can't find any Nissan interior remotely like that. Flat, I thought you knew....was going to ask you to put us out of our misery! Nat, is it quite an old car?

Yea, not really new indeed. But not really old either. Hmm, I could give you a hint. It was built until 1999.

Nat said it was a 4x4. Something in the Patrol model family?

Post by flatin5th - Knight of the NC on May 6, 2012 16:47:13 GMT
ah - but Skylines are 4x4! And it looks too sporty to be a boxy off-roader!
So - a quick, grippy, coupe perhaps?
(I could be completely wrong! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D )

I admit to being almost totally ignorant of car models that weren't sold in the US market. Nat may have us stumped here.
I do like the old Patrols though. They are now collector's items here.

I do have a feeling you might be OK with a US spec version, sold under a different name to Euro spec ones! And then I don't know which of the hundreds of international models were 4wd! Definitely a hard one! (And Google Images is no help either! )

Fizzy, you're right: It's the 300zx and my friend claimed it's a 4x4.

The 300ZX was not sold as a 4x4, but a few enthusiasts dropped in a different motor and used parts from the Skyline to convert them. There are threads in the Z forums about this. (I own 2 Datsun/Nissan Z cars.)

This one, the picture of which I swiped off the internet, should be easier. There are a bunch of clues in the photo. James liked it when he drove it.

well - not quite a dash - this is causing a few headaches on another (boaty) forum I am on! Any ideas ON THE CAR, not the identified 'thing' - but a pat on the back if you do know what the 'thing' is!

Isn't the 'thing' for raising and dipping your headlights?
Original Mini?

Right, it is a foot switch for headlight adjustment.

yep - foot operated headlight dipping switch!
I now know the car too (from the combined efforts of the boaty forum) - so shall I tell you all, or do you want to keep guessing/googling?

My first car - a 1963 Beetle - had one of these, but on the right of the pedals. It was so badly sited that I struggled to reach it, so my brother wired the dipping mechanism to a switch on the dashboard.
The irony is that, with its 6v battery, the lights were dimmer than small luminous insects, so I never needed to dip them anyway.
They were pretty common on old cars, so it's no aid to identifying the model. The only clue is that there's a carpet, so it's definitely not my old 1963 Beetle!
