dont take this the wrong way ladies - but is there anyway I can hide a thread? In particular the Word Association thread! Others will probably think it is just a bit of fun, but it isn't my thing!
Its filled up the '30 last posts' page that I use to keep up with whats going on, and it does nothing for me!
Is there anything I can do?

You're a teacher, we are supposed to like these mind stretching exercises!

Hadn't thought of it from that point of view, flat, I suppose it will have that effect. However, I can't think of a way around it at the moment.
Never mind, we'll probably get bored soon!

Just bump this one thirty times!
I never use that facility - I just look for Today in bold and check out the threads one at a time

I use the 30 last posts every day to catch up. Might as well 'fess up that it was the clone thingy that used to get to me. And, I usually read the 30 without signing in, deliberately to miss the 'Naughty' stuff.

ah - so if that thread is 'members only' I could avoid it if I don't sign in? That could be worth a try! (hint, hint!)

Or you could click on the 'new topics' button and see what threads have been posted to recently. It's not quite as precise a tool as the last 30 posts thing, but each thread only appears once.

Sir Flat, please don't tell me you left us just because of the one single thread

Flat, it would be such a shame to lose you over one silly thread that is just meant for a bit of fun. I get that it's not your thing but... really?

He doesn't seem to be on the Member's list any more. I guess he really has left. What a shame, over a silly game that will probably run its course in a week or two.

I think it's a real shame too. I agree, and I'd posted earlier, that we're bound to get fed up of it soon. I think if we'd realised he felt so seriously about it perhaps we could have said something or found a way round the forum to help him avoid it.
Sorry to see you go, flat! It was always good to get a point of view from the alternative gender.

I don't usually wander too far from the James section, but I just saw this post and am really sorry to see Flat leave. I do hope he misses us as much as we will miss him. I always enjoyed his posts.
I started the thread with the sole purpose to have a little fun. As I said, we have fun playing this at work, but I don't want to see anyone leave because of it. I would be fine with it being deleted if it will prevent further grumpiness. Any suggestions, mods?

How could I stay away when I read some of the lovely comments? (But poo - post count has reset its-self! That took a lot of doing - see below!)
Just to put a bit of perspective on my sudden departure - I read these boards in a totally different way, and in a totally dfferent mind-set to everyone else (well most people!)! I can confirm that James does nothing physical for me in any way (in fact I think he is a bit of a weedy chap!), and I don't share his love of old motorbikes and cars! New and shiney are best. The 'appreciation threads' (the members only ones!) don't do anything for me, so I don't tend to read or post much on them! I am however, a massive fan of his programmes and I read all of those.
I will just have to read the boards in another way! So - keep going with the word assoc thread, and I will firgure a way around it! (you never know, I might even join in with that one day!)
Thanks for the encouragement to rejoin you lovely ladies!

Weedy? Actually, that made me smile.....it's a view of James that I suspect quite a few people share. Not many of the good women on here though!

One of my closest friends, when we met a few years ago and she found out about my 'crush' said of James, "Sorry, he's not my type. Far too thin and far too pretty. Like his brain though".
I accept that the 'thin' bit probably no longer applies, but I found her comment interesting.

Sorry, Richard )
