Went to a taping tonight - surprisingly enjoyable for a hidden camera show. The premise (Richard, based in a secret HQ, is in charge of 'agents' whose mission is to carry out pranks on people nominated by their friends and family) is a lot like Prank Patrol reimagined for prime time, and he actually carries it very well. It was one of the most entertaining tapings I've been to because Richard interacts with the audience all the time, explaining why things are happening (a complication with a spinning chair came about because there was a bloke under the desk turning it, for example), being energetic and silly and self-deprecating. The tone of the pranks is pretty benign, everyone involved is in the studio and gets to take a bow, and it was clear that the producers were aiming at silly and lighthearted rather than trying to humiliate anyone or make them feel properly uncomfortable. And - praise the gods of television - they've got a different hairdresser from the one who worked on Total Wipeout ;D
