Well, we've got a Christmas thread, so I thought it was only fair... Article on my Yahoo homepage on how different countries are preparing for the end of the world on 21st December: uk.news.yahoo.com/mayan-apocalypse-2012--how-the-world-s-believers-are-preparing-for-the-end-135520325.htmlThere are times when I just love being British... Other organisations have kept a stiff upper lip.
The London Fire Brigade spokesman advised: "Fit a smoke alarm on each level of your home, then at least you might stand a chance of knowing that the end of the world is nigh ahead of those who don't.
"If you survive the apocalypse you'll be alerted to a fire more quickly should one ever break out."
The AA said: "Before heading off, take time to do the basic checks on your car and allow extra time for your journey.”What are you doing to prepare?

What are you doing to prepare? Well, we have quite literally the biggest box of Thornton's Continental chocolates... In The World in my office at the moment. I am going to prepare for the Apocalypse by eating them all. It would be a terrible shame to waste them.

Made a special trip to the liquor store today. Also bought extra pet food just in case I'm no longer around and they have to feed themselves. Courtesy of Twitter.

Well, this evening I feasted on home-made coffee ice cream and a small snowball.
And there's still two days to go. Who knows to what depths of debauchery I will yet sink?
Also, windscreen washer bottle has run out. Perhaps I won't fill it...

I have ordered spare parts for my vacuum cleaner. That'll be a waste. Then again, maybe the post Apocolyptic world will need a good hoovering. Mmmmm.......

I have this image of a gigantic Pac-man starting off in the southern hemisphere and chomping its way up from the antipodes.....

I hope we're all spending these last hours in quiet contemplation. I certainly am: Ooh, did I think that out loud?

I'm contemplating the fact that if the world ends, all the money I've spent on Christmas presents could have been spent on beer instead...

Have to say, if I have to think of what to consider in quiet contemplation in the last few hours of the universe, it would be this sort of thing. Aint never going to get near it in the real world, so why not? (Do they produce taxis in the after-life?)

I'm contemplating the fact that if the world ends, all the money I've spent on Christmas presents could have been spent on beer instead... *nods* That's why I haven't bought many yet ;D And besides, the world can't end yet - I have a pot of yogurt in the fridge dated for New Year's Eve.

I received an email Goth Christmas card reminding me I was going to die today. The black creepy Christmas tree had a red skull on the top. It is excellent!
I'm sure there will be plenty of fine bottoms, taxis, chocolate, wine, whisky, cake, roast dinners, chicken sag or patia (I could go on) in the afterlife, so all will be well. We will all be given a man of our choosing, or men if you're greedy and lurve will be all around.

The world hasn't ended yet. In fact, the sun's out. If this is the Apocalypse, can we have them more often please?
Anyway, the world can't end yet. I designed a pair of fingerless gloves a couple of days ago and I've only crocheted one of them so far. I don't want to go to the afterlife looking like a cross between Michael Jackson and a tramp.

I've just had an e-mail headed "Do you want to die alone?"
That worried me a bit.
Until I opened it, to find it's a jokey one from a dating site about the potential apocalypse and whether there's time to find a nice man before the end of the day. Must admit, it gave me the spooks when I first saw it!
(Apologies about the semi-naked James further up the page, by the way - I realise I've lowered the tone of this thread!)

13.22 on apocalypse day. Just had nice gin and tonic next to cosy fire in local pub. Now eating soup.
Slightly disappointed, if I'm honest

Just come back from a bout of Christmas shopping. It felt like the apocalypse if I'm honest.
G and T in a warm and cosy pub? Bliss.
