Anyone have any idea what's planned for the second episode. I mean, we know there are probably going to be seven (that's what all of the media outlets are saying) which means Uganda will be split into two episodes. I'm trying to figure this out. The U.S. road trip will be the main package for one episode, and the Trans-European Race. And I'm assuming the Fiat Multiplia will be it's own episode. What's the other main package
So we have (in no order): Episode 1: P-45, Bentley, Pagani Episode ?: U.S. Road Trip Episode ?: Europe race Episode ?: Fiat Multiplia Episode ?: ? ? ? Episode 6: Uganda Part 1 Episode 7: Uganda Part 2

Didn't James do something at a ski resort last year with a mini that may end up in one of the episodes?

Yes, and there's even a video of it somewhere, but I haven't heard any whispers of it appearing this series. Having said that, James driving Chris Evans' Ferarri was filmed two years before it was actually shown.

The Mini (in Lillehammer) was broadcast last season. That's the segment with the Amy Williams/rally car race. Unless he's done something else that I've missed? Edit: Sorry, I was wrong. It was series 17. Here's the link: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzxS-3vO6Gw

I just realized the main package for that other episode is probably the Kia rugby from the preview.
And BBC released today that Sunday's episode will be the U.S. Road Trip!

This was something else that's never been broadcast. It was to do with driving a Mini straight up and down a snowy slope at speed. It was just about a year ago, and I posted on Final Gear at the time about it. forums.finalgear.com/top-gear-spoilers/in-val-disere-for-the-weekend-52395/Found the video! It was filmed on the Face Olympic black run in Val d'Isere, February 2012. (There's as second version but it's filmed sideways for some reason. Interesting only for the comments which include a guy repeating "Fvcking awesome!" www.youtube.com/watch?v=hiF58yiD5DA

I got the impression it was thought memorable because it was an Olympic ski run rather than just a snowy slope. Perhaps it lost something in translation (ie it was more exciting live), as obviously it wasn't thought interesting enough to go into the programme.

well that was a good 'un! only let down by the storm drain stuff, and the rubbish results of the drag racing!

The episode was very good, but agree with Flat about storm drains and drag racing. I loved James Aston, and that lovely deep turquiose colour.

It wasn't epic to be honest. They've done better road trips. Maybe none of the cars were stupid enough, or maybe it was too reminiscent of their last US road trip - just not quite as good.

Loved the Vanquish - definitely on my list should a lotto win come my way ;D Back to the episode.... Mick Fleetwood - i could watch all night so V happy with the guest pick this week. The road trip, well... it was okay, a bit lackluster in my opinion, they have done better more exciting road trips but the cars were great. Not worth a whole programs worth of air time really.

I thought it was a bit pedestrian to be honest. The Aston was to die for but really, not much "happened" did it? And enough with the p*nis sketches. Honestly. Still, a few good laughs and Mick Fleetwood seemed nice. Might have to re-watch. Perhaps I missed something??

My last comment disappeared. Odd that. Anyway, I found it very entertaining indeed. Yes, the Aston is very pretty and the Viper kind of masculine. Didn't like the Lexus much although it sounds like it drives beautifully. It was all a bit formulaic I suppose, but then that seems to be what the people want........

My big question is why come all the way to the US, spend as much time and cash as they did here (those weren't cheap hotels I assure you) and that's all that was produced? I don't really see that they took advantage of the locations in a way that necessitated coming all the way here. Maybe the editing bay got in the way. I liked Ep1 much better. Actually laughed out loud last week. Almost made me say gushy nice things about Clarkson.

I can see what people are saying about this series not being as exciting so far as some of those in the past, but I must admit that I'm quietly enjoying it. Still making me laugh, still some lovely cars, still three pals fooling around. If anything, I would say that the closeness between them, particularly between James and Jeremy, is even more pronounced than usual.
Of course there are weaknesses, but I've found myself sitting with a smile on my face through both episodes so far. Am I leaping up and down whooping for joy? No. Am I enjoying myself? Yes.
And I'm sure that blue Aston would fit in my garage if I moved the old plant pots and paint tins....

I loved James's comment about the new Jaguar - that Jaguars are only sold to people who make a noise when they sit down.
Then he demonstrated the noise, and it was so freakin' cute!
I'm wondering if the footage from Richard's Mexican leg of the trip will be a section of the as-yet-mystery episode.

I loved this one. The cars were great, and the guys were great together. Agree they could have taken better advantage of the area. The musical road was interesting, but some of the roads in northern AZ are legendary. Can't wait to see Richard's trip to Mexico. (10)
