If they do what Wilman says they are going to do, it will be what I've been begging for. Sounds like the right direction. In order to hit our target time we were messing up the whole jigsaw puzzle of the road trip, and also losing those lovely moments which may not move the story along, but which provide the warmth and the texture – you know, scenery floating by, three mates being mates and so on.It’s better than India, mainly because this time we have a more focussed goal for the road trip (finding the true source of the Nile) and also because we didn’t plan as much, instead just letting things unfold. Tonally, I’d say it’s a mix of the Bolivia and the Middle East outingstransmission.blogs.topgear.com/2013/03/03/coming-up-on-tonights-top-gear/35 mins. to air.

Quite simply, a perfect hour of television. I cannot wait until next Sunday to see where it goes. It's just magic.

Quite simply, one of the best episodes of TG that I've ever seen, if not the best. Really looking forward to part two. I'll never be able to look at press studs in the same way again....! ;D

Fantastic television. I enjoyed every second and was surprised how quickly the hour went. James looked hot!

Fabulous hour of TV. Laughed like a drain at the dialogue - just chat between mates, all genuinely funny men. The planned jokes were pretty funny too - the queue for the toilet for instance.
Anyone else notice the tall African who kept appearing in shot, staring into the distance? In two locations at least. I'll have to rewatch to see if it's the same one. It could be a local guide, or it could just be my imagination.
Really crappy week in prospect, so looking forward to part 2 at the end of it.

I loved it.Lots of laughing. There were so many things to love. The camaraderie between them was great. Not forced like it is sometimes. Yes James looked great and I liked Jezza showing pure white skin and Richard looked like a kid.It was hilarious when Richard put all those bug lights around his car.In the midst of all my misery, it was an hour of pure pleasure and delight. I cannot wait for next week.10

Loved, loved, loved this episode! If only James had gone with Jeremy's recommended theme for his car, he could have included that carbon fibre shoehorn from series 10 as part of his essential toolkit

Too bad they had to break it up. The DVD will be great with both hours together. I'm going to watch it again today. No one has mentioned the tv ratings. Anyone know how they've been?

I bet they're going to have an exhausting week. Do the show, go to Australia for the weekend and come back.

Finally got to watch this evening, as went to visit mother for 5 mins on Sunday turned to 2 hours.
Thought it was very good. It was funny and they seemed more natural than some of the ones have been, very impressed it only seemed to be about 5 mins long to me. Which is fairly impressive as I don't focus too well.

This is the sort of Big Trip that can go so well (Bolivia) or fall rather flat (India). They seem to be knocking this one right out of the park.
I also agree with Clarkson that Hammond's car kind of looks like him. Seriously, could that Impreza WRX be any more perfect for the Hamster? It's little, tough, sporty, and kind of loud. Hammond and his Suby sure saved James and his low-slung Volvo enough times already!
I also spy a new Tormenting Hammond Meme. They used to work him over about whether or not he whitens his teeth, and now they're pitching the notion that he dyes his hair. I can see this taking off in a very vehement direction. 'I have not dyed my hair!'
And I know I have mentioned it elsewhere, but when James was beneath Jeremy's car trying to mend the accelerator, that was about as close to naughty-movies as you can get on broadcast television. Although the scenes where he was fitting out the Volvo/workshop/study were pretty darn close. Mr. May with power tools, handcraftsmanship, and the accouterments of fettling nerditude is a pretty heady combination.

Yes, the best episode so far. I had also thought that James had been short changed this series, but he certainly wasn't in this one. Not sure James should wear loose black tee shirts though! I gave this a nine - I think it's because I have enjoyed other episodes from way back a little bit more (winter Olympics for example) but this was still a very very entertaining programme.

Only one reason I didn't give this a 10: It's been implied that next week will be even better. I want to keep the 10 in stock for that.
Best they've done in a very long time. Well done, boys.

Wonderful, wonderful episode, right up there with their other specials (Bolivia, Botswana, Middle East). The interaction between the guys was very entertaining, and James was his gorgeous self. I gave it a 10, and will have no problem giving next week's show a 10 as well if it's equally good.
