And......it's July!
The sun is actually shining in this neck of the woods, though I wouldn't describe it as being warm (around 16 degrees).
Wonder if there will be more posts on this thread than there were for the June thread?

Continuing from the June thread... Unsurprisingly, I'm getting the same weather as DMC. It's been so hot and humid for >2 weeks that it's like a jungle, punctuated by frequent T-storms. During a storm last week, 2 large trees fell on my Xterra in my driveway and smashed it to smithereens. JM 2, I think our changeable weather and storms are due largely to the influence of Arctic cold fronts moving down from Canada and comingling with warmer air blanketing the US. I'm at about 1500 feet which does intensify storms a little too. We go from -40 F in the winter to 100 F in the summer. Aww, condolences re the Xterra. I know you liked it. Thanks for the info. I guess our weather stays fairly moderate due to lack of altitude and also no other land masses within cooee to influence it. Who knows? You guys must need so many different types of clothes! How do you fit them all in? Thanks, it will take 5+ weeks to fix everything on the Xterra. That vehicle is cursed anyway. In the past 8 months, a malfunctioning garage door came down on it, a mouse chewed up the wiring, and a tractor-trailer backed into it in a parking lot. I had just barely gotten it back from the last round of repairs, it had a flat tire in the interim, then this tree disaster. I told the repair shop owner that after they finished with the repairs, I wanted them to perform an exorcism before they returned it to me. As for the clothes, yes, I have lots, for all the different temperatures. Two large dressers and two small closets, not to mention a coat closet and a storage space just for boots.

Hell's teeth! It's July already
Weather forecast is for some better weather this month. Mind you, the standard it has to beat is pretty low.
Here's hoping

Happy "Pull Out of a Junction Without Looking" Day!
I've encountered seven merrymakers today.
I've been celebrating "Test Your Skills At The Emergency Stop" day instead.

We just got back from our holiday on Sunday. Only went down to Portland/Weymouth, but it was hot enough to count *g* Plus my stupid phone kept telling me I was in France, so I guess I've now been abroad for this year!

I've given up trying to post a link on this new-style board - can't get it to work, so I'll just quickly say "hi" to everyone. T'internet hates me at the moment, and my only stable connection is on the work computer, which is where I am now. Don't usually log into the JMB at work, but I find myself alone at the moment, so Ha!

I've just had an excellent evening - Paul Merton introducing some silent comedy films at a local theatre as part of a Comedy Weekend. It was 90% films and 10% Merton, but that's not a problem as Bloke and I both love the silents, and there were several excellent ones, especially "That's My Wife" where Stan Laurel has to dress up as Oliver Hardy's wife as part of a plot contrivance, and Harold Lloyd's "Safety Last" - that's the one where he hangs off a tall building swinging on a clock then later a flagpole. I'd seen clips of those bits dozens of times but never the whole film. Not everyone's cup of tea, I know, but we enjoyed ourselves.
The added entertainment was that a darts Matchplay event was taking place in another part of the venue, and I had no idea what modern darts fans were like. Not many fat middle-aged men, but plenty of buff young blokes with their orange women, teetering somewhat p1ssed in their 5 inch heels. That's not counting the man dressed as Snow White, the several Incredible Hulks, and the ambush (apparently it's the correct term) of tigers (5 of them). The punch-up in the Ladies loo was a highlight. Such excitement! A good evening was had by all.

We don't really play darts here, but a film screening with a known celebrity as MC, unusual people enthusiastically dressed in costume at a sporting event and women in 5 inch heels who are inclined to mix-it-up.....check for palm trees.

Paul Merton is a bona fide enthusiast and expert on silent movies. He's done this "lecture tour" thing before and obviously enjoys it. Did he have his own pianist with him again, Dit?
I've had the dubious pleasure to attend a darts match at a well-known country club near London. Pretty much the same experience.
Dit, I've PM'd you. Better tell you here as it seems notifications don't always show up.

We don't really play darts here, but a film screening with a known celebrity as MC, unusual people enthusiastically dressed in costume at a sporting event and women in 5 inch heels who are inclined to mix-it-up.....check for palm trees. Funnily enough we were in the Winter Gardens, which is an Art Deco building, so there were palm trees, albeit in large pots inside. The one unfortunate thing about the evening was that my gold bracelet dropped off when I went to the loo, so I picked it up off the floor and quickly stuffed it into the front pocket of my bag and exited stage left in order to avoid the scrum of the darts groupies. When I got home I couldn't find it anywhere, and it's not been handed in at the venue. Shame - it was a pretty one. Paul Merton is a bona fide enthusiast and expert on silent movies. Better tell you here as it seems notifications don't always show up. Yes, he had a pianist (who was very good) and also a small band who played for the Harold Lloyd, which was quite a long film, around an hour. The band was piano, violin, drums, guitar and bass. They did all the sound effects too! I haven't received a PM from you, by the way.

I've had a second go at the PM. Like everything, it seems to be more complicated than it used to be. If you don't get this one, I'll just type it on here. It's not particularly private!

A very interesting evening indeed Dit. Never a dull moment. But I'm very interested in "the bloke". Is this the same one we heard of a little while ago that was early days but promising? Details, woman, details!! Or, you could just tell me to mind my own flippin' business!!
