James May: Former Top Gear presenter spotted in Milton Keynes 17 Sep 2015 at 16:52 By Chris Knight, Staff Reporter Several users on Twitter have tweeted pictures of the presenter at various locations around Central Milton Keynes. Former Top Gear presenter James May has been seen filming in Milton Keynes today (September 17). Several users on Twitter have tweeted pictures of the presenter at various locations around Central Milton Keynes. Oliver Waters snapped this picture of the 52-year-old outside Milton Keynes Central. Other users tweeted images of the presenter travelling around the city in a tiny pod vehicle. After Jeremy Clarkson’s dismissal by the BBC, fellow Top Gear presenters May and Richard Hammond joined their colleague and signed up for a series with Amazon prime. Speculation has mounted that the new show could be named ‘Gear Knobs’ in a parting shot to their former employers. The new series is rumoured to have a huge budget in the region of £160 million. The trio are understood to have signed on for a total of 36 episodes – which means each will have a budget of about £4.5 million. The new show is believed to be available on Amazon Prime at some point in Autumn next year. Did you see James May today? Former Top Gear presenter spotted filming in Milton KeynesPosted on September 17, 2015 by Liam Andrews James May, the former Top Gear presenter, has been spotted filming outside Milton Keynes Central train station. The 52-year-old left the BBC show when Jeremy Clarkson’s contract was not renewed for a fracas with a producer. But the pair, along with fellow presenter Richard Hammond, recently signed up for a new show on Amazon Prime and could be one of the reasons for May’s appearance in the city. He was filming with an electric car on ‘Station Square’ and spoke to a number of members of the public, but wouldn’t say what he was there for. Rumours have suggested the trio’s new show could be named ‘Gear Knobs’ in an attempt to poke fun at the BBC for not renewing Clarkson’s contract citiblogmk.co.uk/2015/09/17/james-may-spotted-in-milton-keynes/

James was in Hammond's neck of the woods Friday, Carno, Powys, Wales David Higgins 75 Who knows this bloke that showed up at the school today? www.facebook.com/davidhiggins75/photos/a.683463145022255.1073741825.276908009011106/932101563491744/?type=1&theaterMy office for the day, 1983 classic group B car for some film work What Is James May Doing At A Rally School With This Group B Rally Car?
Aaron Brown 9/18/15 9:05pm Earlier today Subaru Rally Team USA driver and Higgins Rally School co-owner David Higgins uploaded two pictures to his public Facebook page. One with a 1983 Group B Audi Quattro. One with former Top Gear presenter James May. What’s going on? On David Higgins’ official Facebook page, he gave the photo shown above the following caption. “My office for the day, 1983 classic group B car for some film work.” “Film work?” If I had to assume, I’d say something was being filmed at the UK. rally school for an upcoming episode of the former Top Gear trio’s highly anticipated Amazon car show. Or who knows, maybe the world-famous rally driver is just trolling us. I guess only time will tell. James May drops into Mid Wales rally schoolFormer Top Gear presenter James May has been spotted checking out a rally driving school in Mid Wales run by a six-time American Rally Champion. May spent a day at David Higgins’ Rally School in Carno, Caersws, where he spent time behind the wheel of a 1983 Audi Quattro, followed by a BBC film crew. Mr Higgins said he had enjoyed the day, but denied that he had been giving May, whose nickname is “Captain Slow”, lessons in rallying. He said: “He wasn’t here for rally lessons he just came up to do some filming for a new programme, which I can’t mention until it is aired on TV. “But he was a nice man, very complimentary of the school and I went out with him in the car which was good.” Mr Higgins said it wasn’t the first time he’s welcomed celebrities and film crews to his rally school, but May was one of the nicest celebrities to have dropped in. He said: “It is nice when we get people like this up here to the rally school. It is nice to have famous faces here, but it is hard to mention it some times because we are made to sign contracts which means we can’t really talk about what goes on until something is shown. “But James was great, and a really good person to deal with.” Aside from Top Gear, May, 52, has also presented the Cars of the People documentary and Toy Stories, where he used toys such as Lego, Airfix, Meccano and plasticine to build a full-size house, Spitfire, motorbike and garden. May is set to rejoin Top Gear co-hosts Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond in a new show on Amazon Prime later in the year. Filming started this month for the new series. www.shropshirestar.com/mid-wales-journal/2015/09/26/james-may-drops-into-mid-wales-rally-school/

Is this connected to the programme? I can't find a separate thread for it. Excellent article with lots of lovely links - James said on Twitter today "I've actually done a small bit of motoring journalism. #ExhaustedOfHammersmith" www.bbc.co.uk/timelines/zqhr82p

James May's Cars of the PeopleSERIES 2Review by: David Butcher James May returns to talk us through slabs of car culture. Yes, this series is wordy and nerdy, but if you like your motor shows with a bit of historic sweep, it’s hard to beat. Who else would play Top Trumps with Damon Hill to illustrate Japanese sports cars in 1970s Britain? Who else would rave about a Triumph Dolomite Sprint (“Overdrive on third and fourth!”) His story in this episode is the old one about how the Germans and Japanese rose from the ashes of the Second World War to crush US and UK car-makers with models like the Honda Accord – once the bestselling car in America. We also meet the man who designed that byword for bilge, the Austin Allegro, and see what it should have looked like. ABOUT THIS PROGRAMME
The former Top Gear presenter examines how the car industry in Germany and Japan blossomed following the Second World War, becoming manufacturing giants that far outstripped the Allied nations that had defeated them. He test drives some of the vehicles Germany and Japan produced during the post-war period, as well as an assortment of other classic cars, including E-Types and Mustangs. He also reveals the sad tale of the Austin Allegro, a vehicle that had a devastating impact on the British car industry.
