Richard Hammond at the Prescott Bike Festival
Richard Hammond made a surprise visit to a motorcycle festival near Cheltenham, Gloucestershire last week.
The Top Gear host’s appearance was “a complete and utter surprise,” the Prescott Bike Festival’s publicity manager told the Gloucestershire Echo. “We whizzed him up the hill in a Bugatti, and he had lots of people taking his photo. He even did a stint in the commentary box—he threw himself into it, it was really helpful,” she added.

The Tewkesbury Admag reported that the Hamster rode in on a classic Norton Dominator motorcycle and praised the work of the Nationwide Association of Bloodbikes, an organization that provides medical transport via motorcycles of emergency blood supplies and organs.
“As an honoree member of Bloodbikes, I am delighted to finally make it to Prescott Bike Festival and support such a fantastic cause,” Hammond said.

The festival, now in its 4th year, was the biggest and best yet.
The site, located near Gotherington, was packed full of motorcycle trade stands, bike dealers, clubs and happy customers.
Rebecca attributes this to the unique experience it offers bike-lovers.
“It’s an extremely rare opportunity to come and take your own race-bike up the hill climb - it just doesn’t happen.
“Bikers get to ride the historic hill and know that the money is going to charity – what a better day out is there?
“We sold tickets for the hill climb in advance and they sold out months ago – it’s very popular”.
All proceed from the event will go to the charities Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes and Severn Freewheelers.
The chairman of Blood Bikes Paul Fairbank said: “It’s been a marvellous day, we’ve had a raft of people coming with all different types of motorbikes.
“There was a pitter-patter of rain but everyone had big smiles on their faces.
“Blood Bikes move critical medical supplies between hospitals and patients houses during out of hours and we’ve raised a lot of awareness for the charity”.
The exact proceeds are yet to be totted up but the organisers are hoping to equal or top last year’s impressive sum of £35,000.
