Series 22 - Episode 8Vote & Discuss Episode 8 Top Gear, Series 2228 June 2015 20:00/8:00PM on BBC Two This episode of Top Gear features two films that were shot for the last series. In the first film, Jeremy, Richard and James immerse themselves in the lifestyle of the traditional classic car enthusiast. Armed with affordable classics including a Fiat 124 Spyder, a Peugeot 304 Cabriolet and an MGB GT, the trio set off on an adventure that includes brown beer, breakdowns and a hair-raising classic car show. In the second film, Clarkson, Hammond and May try to become lifestyle leisure enthusiasts with the help of some incredibly cheap lifestyle leisure vehicles. Restricted to a maximum budget of £250, the trio buy three massive mileage SUVs - a Vauxhall Frontera, a Jeep Cherokee and a Mitsubishi Shogun - and then embark on a series of action-packed challenges that include battling with the Stig's 'Leisure Activity Cousin' and a race with terrifying consequences for the loser. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b05n7bnwwww.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b05n7bnw/top-gear-series-22-episode-8

The elephant in the room? (Studio!)
Not bad, but why do the 'lets modify our cars' thing yet again? Tedious! One or two laugh out loud moments, and a fitting close to the show!
Goodbye TG! Its been a pleasure!

I loved the elephant in the room; also the elephant's arse clearly on display at one point - was that a comment from May and Hammond? (I'm sure they've forgiven Clarkson really)
I really enjoyed the programme. Perhaps because I'd waited so long, and was already feeling nostalgic before it started, but also because I thought the two segments were good, in their own ways. I enjoyed the classic car section partly because I've got one (though possibly not for ever - long story) and I know the sort of situations that they showed, plus loved the look at the super classics at the show they went to.
The other challenge - I suppose it was the sort of thing that some viewers didn't like about Top Gear, but I've always enjoyed the whimsical silliness, allied to sheer childishness and cars that the programme was actually very good at when the different aspects balanced out, as I felt they did in this case. And I'm afraid to say that I yelped with laughter when James got out of his SUV and fell straight in the mud.
So goodbye, lads, we'll miss you, but I'm sure we'll meet again soon somewhere.

Remember, as Andy said in his Sunday Times piece today, these films were never meant to carry the legacy of the CHM era. They were just two mid range films towards the end of a good series, but ended up being the last ever. Don't judge them on these two random films he said. They were funny though.

Good episode a fitting farewell and finale to the Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May era of Top Gear. I would have given it a "10" if Jeremy had been in the studio segments. I watched it with my brother and we thoroughly enjoyed it and laughed out loud numerous times during the show. It was a bit weird at first with no Jeremy or audience in the studio, a bit like the TG "winter holidays" DVD/Blu-ray/specials James and Richard did without Jeremy and no Jessica at the end, just silence and the credits. Loved the elephant in the room and seeing James do his happy dance.

it was a fitting send off but i do have some deadly serious questions i'd like to ask the BBC :
1)why did the bloody continuity woman have to talk over the credits? couldn't she keep her mouth shut for 2 minutes? 2)why wasn't Jeremy allowed back for the final episode? he should have been allowed to say goodbye to the show properly. 3) why was the promotion for the final show so utterly crap? the BBC seem to want to move on without a word ,which seems a bit ungrateful to me. 4) I believe there are a couple of power tests that weren't shown. couldn't these have been shoehorned in?

Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson finale takes pole position on BBC iPlayer
Final episode before Chris Evans takes over attracted 50% more requests than the next most popular show in JuneJeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May’s final Top Gear episode: BBC iPlayer hit. Photograph: Ellis O'Brien/BBC Worldwide @marksweneyThursday 13 August 2015 10.58 BSTJeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May’s final episode of Top Gear has fuelled huge viewing on the iPlayer, with almost 3 million people watching their swansong on the catch-up TV service. The much-hyped final episode, a cobbling-together of the final two episodes of the current series that were not completed following Clarkson’s “fracas” with a producer, proved to be the most popular programme on the iPlayer in June. The final episode, which aired on 28 June, drew 1.5 million viewing requests on the iPlayer that month. It managed to attract 50% more requests than the next most popular show, despite only having two days to amass viewers for the iPlayer’s June Top 20 chart. The final episode continued to do brisk business in July, notching up another 1.04 million viewing requests. This was enough to rank the show second for July, behind an episode of EastEnders. In total the final Top Gear episode drew 2.55m iPlayer views, about half the audience that tuned in to watch the show live on BBC2. It drew an average TV audience of 5.3 million and a 23% share of all viewing in its slot. www.theguardian.com/media/2015/aug/13/top-gear-finale-jeremy-clarkson-bbc-iplayer-ratings
