A pre-interview clip of Jeremy Clarkson and Nick Mason. This is an exclusive of a never-aired episode.
This episode of Living the Life brings together the… television presenter, journalist and motoring icon, Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson with Nick Mason, the English drummer, songwriter and key band member of rock legends, Pink Floyd.
Jeremy Clarkson – began his career as a fledgling journalist for the Rotherham Advertiser before moving into specialising in auto journalism. He is known across the globe for his role in the phenomenally successful Top Gear. Not only the most popular show on the BBC, it has an estimated 350 million viewers worldwide, due in no small part to Jeremy’s dynamism, relationship with his co-hosts and genuine passion for cars and motoring.
Jeremy is also a popular columnist writing regular articles for both the Sunday Times and The Sun. Known for his sardonic wit, he is one of our most opinionated broadcasters and has at times come under fire for voicing controversial views, and flying the flag for the politically incorrect and common sense brigade nationwide.
Nick Mason – is the peerless drummer for Pink Floyd, who helped create one of the most influential musical movements and sounds of all time. The progressive rock icon is the only constant Pink Floyd member since its formation in 1965 and he has lived an incredible life within the music scene.
Nick is also an avid car enthusiast, and has brought both his love of music and motoring to the page by writing two books about his passions – Inside out: ‘A Personal History of Pink Floyd’ and ‘Into the Red’ which shares anecdotes and historical references of his experiences with cars. Nick has competed in many auto racing events including, impressively, 24 hours of Le Mans, the world’s oldest sports car endurance race. During the filming of Living the Life, Nick and Jeremy reminisce about their shared driving escapades, before unleashing a ‘laddish,’ enlightening and at times poignant conversation.
Watch out for Jeremy and Nick talking during the show about:
– How Jeremy describes in technicolour detail the excess of the early days of car journalism, of first class flights, exotic climes and freebies galore.
– How it felt for Nick to play drums in front of thousands of people in the heady days of Pink Floyd and huge stadium concerts.
– How Jeremy is consumed with thoughts of death, morbidity never far from his mind, and how he hopes when he dies it will, at least, make a good anecdote.
