If you're posting pictures please can you try and minimise the size of them. Less than 500 pixels across and max file size of 30kb.
Also if you're using copyrighted pics please be careful - either acknowledge where you're getting them from with a link or ask the owner before you use them.
Thank you.

Please *raises hand* most of the ones I used to post are either screencaps (often borrowed from HH) or stuff I saved onto my computer ages ago & I chucked them up on photobucket to post them before 'cause I can't remember where I got them from originally. Does this mean I shouldn't really be using them? Just want to be certain that I'm not breaking the rules & making a mess in our nice new home before I put any up.

I think your fine wolf, just acknowledge HH, most copyrighted photo's have a watermark so as Ly said maybe directlink or like the james-may site, I've direct linked them and thanked them, but I stand to be corrected ...most of our's were fine anyway and mine are so old anyway I've not got a clue where the hell they came from, and in celebration of this new site, I ordered a supermegahuge computer, so hopefully I'll get one of ladies to help with some screencapping, ;D

Don't fret about it too much - we're just erring on the side of caution since we suspect there were certain "issues" with copyrighted pics on the other board. Just leave a little note or a weblink, i.e. © HH, getty images, BBC, etc. where necessary.

Type [URL=(then web address)
then another bracket ]
Then the title of the link, i.e. "BBC" and then close the link with
[ /URL]
^but not with a gap between the [ and the / - I've had to do that because it wouldn't show up on this page.

I'm probably being totally dim here, but how do you post your own photographs? I can't get my head round it! Thanks!

Save your pictures to your hard drive and do any editing you need to (e.g. cropping or resizing). Then upload them to a site like Photobucket - www.photobucket.com - (you'll need to set up an account but the instructions are pretty straightforward). Once they're uploaded, you can share them here by copying and pasting the "IMG" link into your messages. I know that probably sounds like gobbledegook now, but if you try it, you'll see what I mean PS: If you don't have photo editing software, you can do basic editing on the Photobucket site and it's pretty user friendly

Hello, I'm hoping anyone who is a computer/photo expert can help me. I'm going to try to download my holiday photos today and would like to share some. How do I do that? I'm also noticing that "Members Pictures" pops up and disappears like "Night Chat". How do I find it when it's not in the side window? I tried doing a search, but it only shows me a couple of entries. Also, I just took an arty photo of my teapot and wanted to use it as my signature and name it "James May & Jeremy Clarkson - Maureen's cup 'o tea". I'm very novice but have plenty of ideas. Please help. Thank you.

Those are members only threads and are only visible to members If you go to James Smut under Chat > James then the night chat is in there. Members pictures is General Board > Sub board - Mind Body and Soul > Member Photos I hope this helps ;D

Thank you, MG. When people put in pictures, do they do screen shots or is there somewhere special that I have to upload an attachment? Any ideas you have would be very much appreciated. The pictures I've seen so far are really good and I've enjoyed them alot.

the best place to keep pictures is on photobucket as you can store lots of them and put them into folders. Then there's a code under each picture that you then copy and paste into any post, or from a picture location put and [ /img ] round it and the picture will be displayed (without the spacing and the

Thank you for everything, MG. It's very much appreciated. I think I'll try the photobucket and use the technique you've provided here. I'll more than likely be working on it this weekend, since my husband has to work, so that will give me plenty of time. Thanks again.

Hello photo and techno experts,
I'm hoping someone can give me advice and some good ideas. I'm thinking about putting my art photos up for sale online, but have never done watermarks. Does anyone have any ideas of how to make it work so no one can steal my images? I'd appreciate any help any of you can give me. Thank you all the same.

Photoshop should have a facility to stamp a water mark over the top. You could always put writing over the top of the pictures. I imagine if you were to Google it something should come up. However I'm sure someone will be able to help on here Good luck with your photos Mo ;D

Mojo, if you want to send me your pics, and you don't mind waiting a day or so, I can try to watermark them for you. Let me know what you want the watermark to say.

Thank you both so much. I haven't really decided yet what I want to put on, but Adco sent me a YouTube this morning on how to work watermarks before I logged on. If I can get a free moment, I'll have to watch it and see what it says. UM, I have a link to them on Member's Photos if you'd like to take a look. If you'd like the password, please PM me and I'll send it to you. Once I come up with an idea, if I'm still having trouble, I'll definately let you both know, UM. I totally appreciate your offer alot. Thank you both, once again.
