Ok folks I've done some practices and have come up with settings for banners if they're being used in a sig height no more than 150 pixels
width no more than 700 pixleshope that helps, also the above one is free if anyone wants to use it. Glam It's on page two on here. |

That's becuase TickIcon (which was hosting the pic, according to the error text) has left her photobucket inactive and the pics have gone. Try uploading your own pic to your own photobucket account - it's easy to do and saves you nicking someone else's bandwidth. |

Hi, Mods or other members, sorry to be boring, and I have read this thread (about 5 times actually), but if you look you will perhaps see that I have a neat little box that says "avatar" and what appears to be a stylised drawing of a crocodile. However, despite my best efforts, I can't get the b****y picture to show up.
I'm using Phyrefile and, according to other posts on this thread, I'm reasonably sure I'm using the right URL (I've tried the others and nothing happened at all). Can anyone help me?

I use photobucket, if you use the direct link on there it should be ok and remember avatars should be a max of 100x100.....if not scream again |

Just proves how little time I have when I've got my sensible head on - I've just got round to investigating Photobucket and got the photo saved that I want to use. I've tried to download it to the 'modify profile' page by copy and pasting the URL from the 'share this album' box but nothing is happening. In fact, I've even lost the avatar-sized box I had that was waiting for an avatar to go into it!
I'm clearly doing something wrong/missing the point here, but would like some further advice. I was slow getting used to Phyrefile too, but whizz through it now. I refuse to let this beat me!

Sounds like you're almost there You need the direct link for the individual image you want to use, not the link to the album it's hosted in. I've just gone in and checked mine because I couldn't remember how it got there, but it's just the address for the image, starting 'HTTP://' (it needs to be an HTTP link). Don't use any HTML or BB Code tags. Just to clarify, the link for my avatar is i104.photobucket.com/albums/m172/wyvern_chick/top_gear_dog_crop-1.jpgOn Photobucket, that's usually the second of the four options you get under the thumbnails. Click on it to highlight it, then copy the address and paste it into the 'Avatar URL' box in your 'Modify Profile' screen and you should find it brings up your avatar. If that doesn't work, paste what you're pasting into your profile into a message here (or feel free to PM it if you prefer) and I'll see if I can see why it isn't working. |

Not about avatars but perhaps someone could answer this question - when I post I use the Quick Reply box as that's all that's there, then click 'Post Reply' and the message comes up on the thread straight away. However, there's no provision for putting in smilies or previewing in any way. The only way I can do that is to post the message then click 'modify' and put the smiley in then.
Am I missing something?

I'm so proud of myself! I was able to scale down a picture and post an avatar! WooHoo! I know this really isn't much of an accomplishment but I am quite computer illiterate so I am proud of myself for not screwing it up.

A silly little question coming up - you know those things that you keep meaning to ask?
The little icons to the extreme left of the thread titles; I've been trying to work out/find out what they all mean. As far as I can tell (pardon my descriptions!):
folder with ballbearing on top = sub-board
folder with red microphone on top = sticky
folder on its own = ?
pink folder with an exploding egg on top = ?
Don't think I've missed any.
Then the next column (just before the thread title):
plain piece of white paper - ?, but why are there some smilies there instead?
Sorry about this, but it's been bugging me for ages, I've tried the proboards help section but can't get this anywhere!

Blank piece of paper - default thread icon. You can stay with the default or pick a different one when you create a new thread.
Yellow folder - 14 replies or fewer
Yellow folder with flame - 15 to 25 replies
Red folder with flame - more than 25 replies

I just worked out how to add a little picture!! Yay! Thanks to the clear instructions.. I really hope no one else has this one. Sorry if I've stolen someones pic, I'll change it if I have! I REALLY hope not beause I could look at James sleeping all day! (Well, I'd like him to wake up at SOME point!)
