DD, as long as you know what station you're heading for, it's actually very difficult to get lost on the underground. Even *I* don't get lost on the tube, and I got lost repeatedly trying to get to my room at the Floatel, so my inbuilt navigation system is completely rubbish.

And really, what's the worst that could happen if you get on a tube heading the wrong way? There are announcements and maps and stuff, so as soon as you realise, all you have to do is hop off at the next station and catch one in the opposite direction And if you realise you've ballsed it up completely and somehow caught something on the wrong line, all you have to do is see if it crosses with the line you want, and if it doesn't, you just get off and go back the way you came.

DD as wy said the tube is no worries, I've never worried about it at all, you'll be fine.

It seems so easy on paper and it probably is, I'm such a coward. You're not a coward, DD, I suppose it is a bit daunting if you've not done it on your own before. I suppose I've been popping back and forth since I was 16, so I'm pretty used to it - mind you, life was a bit less scary in general back then (or is it just that you don't worry about things when you're 16?). It is easy, but the bit you can't put on paper is how you feel about stepping into what can be a bit of a melee at times

Euston is slightly more complicated than it could be. To get to Liverpool Street for the Chelmsford train, you need the Circle/Hammermith & City/Metropolitan lines. These go from Euston Square, not Euston, so DON'T go down the escalator inside the station. Go straight out of the front door of the station & cross Euston Road (the other side of the buses), turn right & walk about 1/4 of a mile & Euston Square Station is on your left. As you approach the platforms, there will be line maps showing where you go from each platform, just choose the one with Liverpool Street on it (probably marked as Eastbound). Any train from that platform will take you there!

Oops I told DD you could get the Northern from Euston and change at Moorgate, then one stop to Liverpool St on the Circle/District/something else lines, map not in front of me. Was thinking she might prefer not to confront the London streets. Was this totally wrong?

It's ok Maibee, no problems, I'm going to go and confront my fears. Well done, DD, I mean, how hard can it be? I'm sure you'll be OK!

If I couldn't, I'd have been really stupid to encourage to to go now wouldn't I? No, you don't need to answer that!

Did anyone go to Bluewater? Why so quiet?
I thought this board would be awash in squee with so many tales of James encounters...
