Mr Rochester - now there's a deep, enigmatic romantic hero! Jane Eyre is one of my favourite books, and Rochester one of the men I first fell in love with - him and Sherlock Holmes.

Mr. Rochester and Sherlock Holmes were marvelous characters. Heathcliff... the original bad boy??

Pinky and the Brain
The Brain: Are you pondering what I'm pondering? Pinky: Uh... yeah, Brain, but where will we get rubber pants our size?
The Brain: Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering? Pinky: Um... I think so, Brain, but what if the chicken won't wear the nylons?

Later....with Jules Holland on BBC2.
Consistently good music, every week. I have the urge to order several albums every time. (Only finances stop me getting all of them).

Bridget's Jone's Diary. Never saw it when it first came out as I would have had to go sans OH. Not his type of movie. I was perfectly fine with sitting in a dark theatre with just me and Colin Firth, but never did find the time. I am enjoying it now.

I was perfectly fine with sitting in a dark theatre with just me and Colin Firth, but never did find the time. I am enjoying it now. I can remember precisely one thing about Bridget Jones' Diary - The bit at the end when she's running through the streets of London in her underwear - where is everyone? It's never that empty - ever. I was one of those idiots who thought the original newspaper articles were by a real journalist. I was quite disappointed when I found out they were fictional, as I quite enjoyed hating this idiot woman. Nowadays, though, we've got Liz Jones and Samantha Brick, so that's some compensation

Granted, it was a bit of a fluff as far as the storyline goes, and I'm not a Zellwegger fan, but it has Colin Firth and his big, brown eyes.
I'm watching the solar eclipse right now. Cool stuff.

Has anyone in the US seen Hemingway and Gellhorn with Clive Owen and Nicole Kidman? Quite sexy. I think I shall read a Hemingway novel perhaps The Sun Also Rises. I believe Hemingway was bipolar.

Being an English major and not reading Hemingway means I should be shot in front of my family. Somehow I never got to it. I've never seen Michael Palin's take on Hemingway which I shall rectify soon. Thanks

BBCA is showing the Saab epi. James is wearing the white jumper. Mmmmm. I'm sorry this is probably a very stupid question but is there a difference between BBC 1,2 and BBCA ?

Sorry, Melly, occasionally I think we UK members forget that comments we make can bewilder those from foreign parts!
BBC1 and BBC2 are the two UK terrestrial channels which you have to pay a licence fee to watch. The main difference between them is that BBC1 carries more mainstream programming (soaps, drama, sitcoms, family entertainment, sport etc) and therefore has higher viewer figures.
BBC2 carries less mainstream, more 'highbrow' and cultural programmes. It also takes more risks, is more experimental and caters for specialist interests. Thus programmes can be very high quality, even award-winning, but are unlikely to gain the same size of audience as BBC1.
I don't know much about BBCA other than it's an American cable channel that shows BBC programmmes, so it's how people in the US access Top Gear and James' programmes. I'm sure that one of our many members from the US can be more enlightening!
Hope that's been of some help!

BBCA = BBC America and is shown on American cable. BCCA shows TG re-runs and currently Richard's Crash Course series. They have shown James & Oz in the Wine series in the past, but I don't think ManLab, Toy Stories, Big Ideas, or most of James' own shows have ever been broadcast here.

I'm watching the people carrier redo on BBC America right now in the middle of a storm. Mid Atlantic is getting pounded.

I just saw a commercial for an Audi on BBCA. This little girl claims her dad is strange, he gargles, drinks green stuff, is from Albuquerque, and drives an Audi. Albuquerque gets the weird stuff!
I forgot to mention I saw the last two episodes of Neil Oliver's Ancient Britain. His enthusiasm is contagious and he so obviously enjoys what he does. Easy on the eyes also.
