Funny, I could have sworn I just heard Brian Blessed. I think he was a couple of miles away, though.......

dit , Brian Blessed is the best screamer of words I have ever seen! In BLACK ADDER and I, CLAUDIUS, he really let loose!
We have an all-UK public TV station in the DC area. Most of the shows are kind of old but I love the show HUSTLE, about a group of con artists. Robert Vaughan still looks great after all these years; I was so addicted to THE MAN FROM U.N.C.L.E.

Does anyone watch Ripper Street on BBC1? I think it's exceptional, but it doesn't seem to get mentioned much, so I wonder whether it'll get a second series or not.
The acting is universally superb, the dialogue is extremely well-written with a strong sense of period, the costumes, settings and even the colours used seem right for the late 1880s. Yes, it's extremely violent at times, but so it was in Whitechapel then. There has also been criticism that the women shown tend to be wives or whores, but if you look at history, that was often the case at the time.
Some of the performances are excellent. Tonight's episode, when the naive Sergeant Drake (Jerome Flynn) hesitantly revealed his love for the prostitute Rose, who we all knew would refuse him, nearly broke my heart, and I actually wept when, outside, he released the pair of lovebirds he'd bought for her but was keeping concealed until she'd accepted his proposal.
Worth a view.

I've seen a couple of episodes on BBCA. Mostly I thought it was pretty good, but the audio quality made some of the dialogue difficult to hear, so I couldn't always follow the plot.

Ive been watching it. I'm a big fan of Matthew from his Spooks days as well as Death At a Funeral. That is one of the funniest movies ever. The acting is great and they have managed to create that post Ripper aura, wondering if he was coming back.

Super Bowl just over, with the AWESOME Baltimore Ravens beating the San Francisco 49ers, 34-31. Nothing like seeing the hometown team win the prize! GO, RAVENS! Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco named the game's Most Valuable Player, and the amazing Ray Lewis retires as a big winner!

They are having a James May marathon on BBC America this morning. Right now it's 'Drinks To Britain', followed by some 'Toy Stories' and finishing up with some 'Man Lab'. ;D

Thanks for the heads up, SLF.
Yesterday I watched the Graham Norton episode with James and Jeremy. It cracked me up all over again.

We wanted to watch Fantasia yesterday, but it turned out someone had borrowed it. So we settled for Fantasia 2000 instead.
It was pretty much how I remembered it: The segment with the flying whales was rubbish, the yo-yo playing flamingos were entertaining, and so was the Noah's ark segment. The rest was unremarkable, with the big exception of Rhapsody in Blue, which was worth the full price of the (once-upon-a-time rather pricey) DVD all by itself. That segment is pretty much the perfect combination of music, art, style and story and gives me goosebumps every time.
