Agreed about the Proms, jacqui, very enjoyable! It never fails to make me giggle to see James in a yoga class, looking so miserable with that "What the @$%# am I doing here?" expression on his face! Lynnemezzo, there's a full length version of that yoga programme knocking around. I was certain I had it as a download, but I can't find it or track it down on the board. Can anyone help? It's well worth watching the whole 30 minutes; James' facial expressions are excellent! Here's the 34 minute version. vimeo.com/21495050Or go right to yogaxpress' site. They have the vid on the home page. yogaxpress.com/yogaxpress/home.html

Thank you all for the yoga video! I have to admit that James was such a good sport for doing all those stretches and balances. Shame the other two didn't participate.

I still keep wondering what the people who actually watch the program thought when James appeared that morning. "Who is this guy?" ;D ;D

At the moment, I'm watching the live feed on the BBC website of the torch (Olympic) being borne down the river aboard Gloriana. Well, sometimes it's that. Other times, it's bits of a helicopter, the presenter's shoes, some old cans laying around on the deck of the media chase boat... Gloriana looks...well, glorious. If only they could keep the cameras pointing in the right direction

The Encore channels have been showing James Bond films all week. I don't know if that's in honor of the London Olympics or not. At any rate, I saw "The Spy Who Loved Me" this afternoon. That amphibious Lotus inspired my love of cars many years ago.

Well - enjoy Vivienne! Danny Boyle is as mad as a sack of cats!
Stick it out for the flame though.

I fell asleep during the parade of nations. I think they were in the E's at the time. I wanted to see Sir Paul. Anyone have any links? I thought it was very well done. Kenneth Branagh was fantastic and in his element. Your salute to the NHS along with Barrie a good tie in with Mary Popplins. I love how the elixir in the movies was alcohol. A sthingy full of sugar. For some obscure reason I've had a quote on my mind from "A Tale of Two Cities", "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times." How Dickensonian of me!

Watched an amusing prog last night on BBC2 - "Vexed". Apparently there was a series in 2010 that received what is cautiously called "a mixed reception". I didn't see that or hear of it at the time, but watched the start of the second series last night. Apparently the cast is changed somewhat from the first series. Toby stephens is the male lead in both series.
It's a comedy-drama with plenty of comedy, sends up the archetypal lazy man cop/efficient woman cop pairing, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. At least I was away from the Olympics!

Olympics
Mrs Flat recommends that all you ladies watch the medal ceremony for the 4-man rowing - in particular the USA silver medalists!

Apart from the Olympics, I've been watching the two new DVD's that came in the mail this week. They were a belated anniversary present from the hubby.

I happen to be watching SKY Arts and Siouxsie and the Banshees are on!
Siouxsie Sioux has aged very well indeed - unlike Debbie Harry when I went to see Blondie a few years ago!

Debbie Harry was relatively "old" when Blondie were big. I reckon she must be pushing seventy now.

I must admit to a rather childish sense of humour, but this did make me smile. I was watching Sky News a few minutes ago, and the anchor man was about to speak to a reporter somewhere in Africa. The reporter concerned, a rather 'well-developed' lady in a tight T-shirt, was seen for a minute or two in the background as he introduced the story, then he turned to her with the immortal line, "Well, Anna, I've just been looking at your tweets....."I've heard them called a lot of things in my time, but never that! Oh, just me finding it funny? I'll get me coat....

Michael Wood's IN SEARCH OF MYTHS AND HEROES on Maryland Public Broadcasting. The episode about the Queen of Sheba just finished and now there is one about King Arthur.

Were you ever a fan of Joseph Campbell and his work on the hero's journey? I love comparative mythology. It touches on so many fields of study.

I love Joseph Campbell's work. As a classicist, I love Greek and Roman mythology, but I have grown to love mythology of all cultures. It behooves us all to learn more about the world's cultures more than ever.
