news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7485313.stmYeah it is. How stupid and a year late. Well, it's just a pity this world has to pander to the needs of the delicate and sensitive few, when most of us can cope quite easily with such scenes. When is the PC Brigade going to disband?

What a shame there isn't a 'feedback' option on that BBC webpage. I'm sure we could have thought of something suitable in response

If the BBC Trust, whoever they are, take a year to cogitate about such things they must be a rather toothless bunch. Added to which, if they 'were told' about the programme, they can't have seen it so are basing their criticisms on hearsay. It's all piffle.

All the headlines are pointing the finger at Jeremy again. Can I just say it was James May who brought the gin and the lemon along, and it was James who poured it and made Jeremy drink it. He also brought the wine which they drank whilst in charge of a tent. So leave Jezza alone. (Not that I'm trying to get James in to trouble..... ;D )

James had better behave himself. this bunch seems determined to administer some punishment . I would like to say that the next time I find myself driving (sailing?) to the North Pole I plan to be very drunk as this has given me that idea.

You know what has happened here, don't you? Two episodes into a new series of Top Gear, the guys haven't set anyone on fire or eaten a whale or blown up Princess Michael of Kent, so the people who seem to like having a go at the show have had to look a bit harder to find something to whinge about. Funny how it's taken a year for them to get sufficiently p*ssed off to mention it. I'm surprised the report doesn't also complain about "cruelty" to sled dogs and the evils of foie gras. Normal service will doubtless be resumed when someone with a beard takes offence at something in the new series... (and yes, I realise that the report will have been some time in coming and that the issues haven't only just been raised, but call me cynical, but the timing can't be a coincidence...)

Given that the inclusion of alcohol was merely meant as a 'comedy moment', I'm surprised that the powers that be haven't taken offence at some of what passes for comedy these days? I wonder how long it will take them to rap 'em on the knuckles for TG Stunt Man's antics or the reference to Richard's 'gay' police car??

hehe just read that. if you have signed up to celebdaq you can log in to the bbc message board someone has started a thread about it there. whats more amusing is some one who has started a thread about how tg should be after the watershed! posting up a list of words that they said on sundays show then said something about how there kid is watching it and they shouldnt say the things before 9pm... yes actually they should they should show it at 9pm then they will be able to do and say alot more! then parents who complain cant say much if they let their kid watch it after 9pm!

I've just commented on the original story on the Daily Wail website (linked to from James's wonderful "sod off" response).
I said this:
Oh, for crying out loud!(see what I did there? Sorry, but I couldn't resist!) All this was based on ONE complaint?! And it took a year to investigate it and publish the report. Just how is the BBC Trust funded? Actually, does it matter? Regardless of which budget it came out of, I'm sure it could have been better spent on, oh, I don't know, making quality programming or something. I get a distinct whiff of doubles standards at the BBC where TG is concerned - it is BBC2's "cornerstone programme", with an enormous global following yet I get the feeling that certain elements at the BBC would like it to quietly go away. I think it rankles with some people that a show about nasty, polluting cars, presented by three middle-aged, middle-class white guys (society's most evil subset!) with no PC agenda is more successful than all the boring, worthy "socially aware" programming the Corporation churns out. If people really wanted to watch JC and co. put a Star on a Reasonably Priced Pushbike, TG wouldn't be the success it is.
If I'd had more space, I think I would have suggested putting Nelson Madela in the Lacetti... (god, we need an evil smiley or something).

I worry about someone that watches a show and counts bad words. Someone needs a life.
When my son was younger, if I felt something was too adult for him I didn't let him watch it or watched it with him. I got hooked on South Park this way!

Oh come on! What world do these people think their child is living in? As a parent I can't stand these self-righteous types that act as if their child lives in a sanitary bubble! By age 9 a child should know a bit more than "period", male or female! Rant over...for now...

Rope-sandalled vegetarians in bobble hats on what they think is the moral high ground. If they knew they were going to be offended - and they did - they shouldn't have watched. If they knew that their children's ears would be assailed by some slightly risque language - and they did - they shouldn't have let them watch. End of story. Except it won't be. However, I doubt that anything will change, TG makes so much profit for the BBC that toning it down would slaughter the golden goose.

It's good see so many people backing them on all the comments etc. The Daily Wail has probably never had so many comments on an article before. I'm getting a t-shirt printed to say "Sod off the lot of you." Or maybe that could be the title of James's new book. ;D
