Oh come on! What world do these people think their child is living in? As a parent I can't stand these self-righteous types that act as if their child lives in a sanitary bubble! By age 9 a child should know a bit more than "period", male or female! Rant over...for now... Oooh... sanitary. That's rude... ;D Lol! That was purely unintentional

I read that same article while I was at the cyber cafe during my lunch hour checking my personal emails. I thought that was ridiculous too. They were sailing and there was no one else around. Besides, it was all in the name of fun and they weren't drunk. Ah well, there's always going to be someone around who has to winge while the rest of us are happy with our TG guys. I guess you can't please everyone.

Hi DD, Well done, James. I'd like to tell them the same thing sometimes. I do refer to them as Nazis on my YouTube page.

It's good see so many people backing them on all the comments etc. The Daily Wail has probably never had so many comments on an article before. I'm getting a t-shirt printed to say "Sod off the lot of you." Or maybe that could be the title of James's new book. ;D I want a "Sod off the lot of you" sign for my office door!

Can't believe I only just found this thread. When they are in the tent and Jezza is complaining about having to survive on only gin and James pulls out a Chablis is my most fave top gear moment ever. Call me a hideous booze hound (you won't be the first or the last) but I think it is hilarious. Yes, drink driving is bad... but so are a lot of other things we all do perfectly legally.

I haven't read the Daily Mail article, only knew about this via DD. Think I better not read it, fumed enough over Ms (short for Misery) Cooke! (And in case anyone wonders why I deleted my comment from that particular thread, it's cos I thought James may have been unintentionally lured there and didn't want him to be embarrassed.)
It really must be a case of build them up to knock them down. Remember the furore over the lighting up in the studio with pipes stunt?
Some people don't get the artistic licence they use to mix entertaining, lighthearted moments in with more informative stuff. One day someone will complain about the way they mention that a new model/vehicle has been launched and then move swiftly on, on the grounds that it is vehicular discrimination!

Oooh... sanitary. That's rude... ;D Lol! That was purely unintentional Am I thick? I don't get! The word 'sanitary' for me brings back a quote from Betjeman's The Village Inn that I was told to learn for my O Level. Learnt it, never forgot it, but never knew why I learnt it and why it was relevant! Viz - Hurrah, hurrah for Hearts of Oak Away with inhibition For here's a place to sit and soak In sanitary conditions. Voila!

And, please correct me if I'm wrong, period is used frequently in american programme language, i.e. that's an end of it, period.
Happy Independance day folks

A propos Mayniac's post. I remember watching an episode of Oprah a few years back and they were trying not to say the word 'menopause'!

OH. NOW THAT'S OFFENSIVE.
In a world where one crank can make a complaint and it has to be investigated (Hey, Press Council! How y'all doing?), it was refreshing to see Top Gear's James May respond manfully to a complaint that the show glamourised drink driving when May and Jeremy Clarkson were seen having a gin and tonic. In the North Pole.
What was May's response to the BBC Trust which agreed with the complainer? A simple "Oh, sod off."
Make his a double! From the Independent.ie.

Brilliant! As an aside to this, I had one of those recommendation emails from Amazon this morning... for a book called Polar Regions In Danger! The thing is, although it's a book about endangered habitats, the only thing I've ordered that might suggest to them that I'd want something with a 'sweeeeeeeeeeeeet' picture of a polar bear and its babies on the cover is the Polar Adventure!

Happy Independance day folks It's impossible to watch commercials here without that word. My 17 year old son cringes and changes channels at one commercial where Mother Nature presents a vacationing lady with her "monthly gift" as she steps off the plane!
