Just checking out the time for Top Gear and it seems a bit strange 2pm in the afternoon, I wonder if these are repeat's to whet our appitite? That's the time that filming starts.

does 12 and a 1/2 couple mean they had 13 dogs? Cos half a dog sounds cruel.

I take it that with James doing the poweeeeer boat race at the end of June, they are going to start the new series on the 15th and then be off air for a couple of weeks That's cruel!

I don't know how we've missed this one because it's been mentioned in dispatches on HH and also on Google alerts for a while. Anyway, earlier this year Richard was filmed in a ski resort racing a couple of skiers (in a car, obviously, not on skis).

I hear they were in Essex, near Clavering....Jamie Olivers dad lives there, The Crickets pub, my parents not too far, mind you far enough to not be near, typical

I guess the guys are also back from Japan then

They certainly are... they were spotted driving old Alfas around Essex yesterday ;D
Any guesses on the race? I wouldn't like to put money on it, but it wouldn't surprise me if it involves the new GT-R... I can imagine them racing the Bullet Train or something like that...

I have no idea what they could have done in japan. Is there something typical japanese

Well, the Shinkansen (a very high speed rail network) holds the world record for the fastest speed set by a maglev train, at something like 360mph, though the Bullets only (only!) run at around 188mph for most of their journeys. It's recognised as the fasted passenger railway in the world and is a bit special ;D Either that or they'll be up against the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers And the new GT-R is Nissan's latest evolution of the GT-R Skyline, and is capable of creaming the Evo X - but costs about twice as much at book price, and anything up to three times as much for people to jump the waiting list (£90,000 for a Nissan?! But apparently, that's how good it is...). I *would* consider putting money on that turning up in the new series.

you really think they will do another race with a car vs a train?

There is that... but it depends on the spin they put on it, I suppose. I honestly have no idea, but it is probably the most famous Japanese transport that doesn't run on roads. And the maglev system is something very, very different (I don't understand the physics of it, but the trains sort of levitate using a system of magnets). In fact, the only full-scale maglev system currently running is in China, but the Japanese one is about to go live once the infrastructure is in place. Still, the conventional trains are very fast indeed, and the Japanese do have experimental maglev tracks in place. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if James covers it in one of his new science things in the future

You know, Wyvern, you could be on to something. I'm sure I read that James was also in Japan for his science series. In Top Gear, we'll probably see him drooling about the train's technology, with Richard next to him being fast asleep and Jezza far away in some very fast car. ;D

I'm on Vista as well. Hmm, can't imagine they would ban people from outside the UK, like the BBC does. So, is it worth watching or is it just some crappy cellphone filming? Edit: And noone of the bystanders had the decency to do the proper thing and put the film on YouTube. Really, how inconsiderate.

Weird, weird, weird.... Exactly the same link worked perfectly well when when I went to FinalGear and clicked it there. The carbuffs there identified the cars as a 155, a GTV and a Spider. They were filming for a feature involving Alfas and Spitfire fighter planes. Wasn't it James biggest wish to fly a Spitfire? Hope they let him have a go!
