Thanks, inky And on the subject of superbuses (superbi?) I'm going to copy the article to our local bus company in the hope it will spur them on to provide a modicum of a better service - see, Jezza is right, James SHOULD be Minister for Transport!! An airship would be just the job for getting past all the traffic on the A44... ;D

I have to say that I think it is a genuine shame that the comments page on the Telegraph has changed recently from being a bit of light hearted fun to being a place where people whinge, scold, cajole and complain, and I do think, without wishing to be rude to anyone on this site, that some people are taking things far too much to heart. There are one or two regular commenters on James's column who are, frankly, obsessed women, and one or two others who are clearly bitter and twisted jealous old blokes... but that's no reason for people to start leaving lectures on the comments, or indeed for people to make up lots of fake identities to post lots of times. Some of the comments this last couple of weeks are completely irrelevant and quite pathetic, and I am concerned that a) James reads the comments, usually - imagine what he'd think! and b) if this to-in and fro-ing carries on, the paper will just remove the comments board if it's too much effort to moderate. The voice of reason. A breath of fresh air becks I think more or less everyone agrees with you Becks Gotta keep da peace! *stig makes a v sign*

Forgive the newbie here, but I have a question after reading the article (something not connecting apparently)...how would this 'superbus' airship work around property air rights issues in major cities? Back when the Hindenburg (sp?) and all were starting up, I don't think air rights (i.e., the rights that property owners can sell or lease above their properties to other developers, or as it's also done sometimes to *prevent* developers from going above their properties) was an issue....probably wasn't even 'invented' as such then. Nowadays, in metropolitan areas, it would be (and is in some metropolitan cities here)...and I presume London, etc, is no different. It would seem to me (and forgive, it's been ages since I've done anything in real estate and obviously lack Mr May's aviation knowledge) that these airships would need to 'dock' on the lower rather than the tallest buildings so as to cut down on wind turbulence, avoid air traffic control antennea, and the like for passengers...but those same lower buildings would also be the ones who have/will sell their air rights already. Sorry if I'm talking gibberish...I used to dabble with patents and my brain does the 'what if' and 'how' far too much for its own good, and articles like this kind gets those wheels turning a bit. This is what I'm talking about (now let's see if I can get the link to properly post): www.habitatmag.com/publication_content/2007_november/web_exclusive_adaptations/selling_air_rightsI like the idea of an airship and would gladly be game for a ride in one of these, but I wonder how much money negotiating all of the real estate issues really would be necessary to make these commuter airships even a viable option. (going back into my corner, hoping not everyone thinks I'm a completely daft American)

If you look back in this thread, you can find the link I posted to the site of the Superbus. It explains it all.

It's strange they haven't added new comments yet. I left mine early friday morning and nothing... It didn't even make it their last batch they posted up on friday.

WHD, yesterday was a bank holiday in the UK, so the moderators weren't at work.

They may just choose to leave it now. But hey, you might get lucky! Keep your eyes open!

WCH (yep I got it right now) your comment is up! And one James responds to Lorraine's comment. The moderator either isn't very awake or can't be bothered much today.

I wouldn't worry about it, DT certainly aren't and I'm sure the person in question won't be too.

I dont know that it is. Some people just have too much time on their hands. We're all agreed that the column had become like a battle ground and now that things have settled down again, somebody has to go and ruin it! Worst thing is... this could easily be misread as 'our James' by some. Luckily we know how he signs his name on his comments and that he would never be so rude. I agree with LC; The moderators were obviously off having a nap when this one snook through. Its not even commenting on the bloody column!!!! *stig gets very defensive of fans and friends on the board* sorry, rant over!

That comment was uncalled for and I hope it will be dealt with. I'm glad to see normal service being very much resumed this week. And thank you Maureen

It was a delight to comment on such a balanced column again and lovely to see that a majority of comm's are focused again on James' work. We've got the column back I feel! ;D
