Still not keen on prog, but tonight's had a class moment... first contestant to make it across 'the balls'... cut back to Richard, and he and the crew are partying... champagne, party hats, streamers! ROFL! ;D

Saw that part: Very funny.
I've just watched the Aussie version of Wipeout and it's funny too but in that slapstick sort of way. The commentators kind of suck and the blondie near the pool is just worst.
That's what i think is missing with Total Wipeout: Richard need's another presenter. Or wouldn't that work?

I know Nat. I checked it on my dad (and mine's) big plasma tv via Sky Guide. Checked it soo much to not make mistakes and there's no Total Wipeout. But hey, his Blast Lab is on in 18 minutes and his Engineering Connections tomorrow.

Sorry to disagree.
I can't believe Richard signed up for this. Even if you like this kind of programmes. What's his part? Reading a text - that someone else probably wrote - from an autocue. The man needs another agent.
* rant over *

The man needs another agent. * rant over * Raises his profile, on Saturday early prime time tv, good pay for being the 'face' of Total Wipeout for a sort portion of his time.... He's doing the work as he's offered it and he likes it, bit like James. One day no one will care, the work will dry up and they are doing it whilst they can and whilst it is being offered to them. Although I doubt this will be the case, but the media is extremely fickle.

The danger is though that when he takes these things on, he won't be asked for anything else anymore, like the sort of documentaries he used to do. The BBC will only ask him to present silly quiz showes etc. If it makes him happy, it's fine by me though.

I guess the TG clock must be ticking so he's getting himself seen in different formats. It might backfire of course. Who knows. After Graham Norton has finished with Eurovision, Richard could be the next presenter. ;D

I don't generally watch it myself, but I don't think there's anything wrong with what Richard (H) is doing. It seems to work well for the 'family' demographic - and let's face it, that's who a show on Saturday teatime is aimed at. Kids - at least, all the ones I know - like watching grown ups getting punched by boxing gloves, falling over and getting covered in mud, while the dads get to watch (mostly reasonably) athletic ladies run around in sportswear and mums get to admire the Hamster. And the funny thing is, as long as I turn over part way through and don't have to watch the 'qualifier' thing, I quite enjoy it. If I didn't, I would turn over. I don't think it will affect his ability to present other things though. A lot of his documentary work hasn't been for the BBC and in any case, most of his resumé has always been light ents.

I think they picked him because he is a good presenter and appealing to lots of people.

It's a great Saturday night game show. I heard that Richie hates watching game shows in his book 'On The Edge' And he presents one! How?

I have to be honest, I'm not really into game shows, I'm more of a techy geek (hence the ahem admiration for JM!) but I really enjoy this show. Its the perfect thing on a Saturday night to just relax to after a hard week in my office. If that makes any sense at all as I am severly lacking in that department at the moment!
