Right, after pulling myself together and rewatching it this morning (research purposes - nothing to do with James in glasses!), I can honestly say, although not my fave of the season by a long way, I did enjoy it. The Aston piece at the end did have me blubbering and filled me with dread but thanks to the TG website everything is now ok. Just waiting for the complaints about the ad film now.

It was sad - the music and the look on Jeremy's face as he drove in silence. I'm starting to miss him already. No complaints about the ads from me. I thought they were hilarious. A couple of Jeremy's had me rolling. ;D ;D Poor Richard getting stuck in the hyster. ;D ;D

I was really surprised by the use in the last film of "An Ending (Ascent)" by Brian Eno. Lovely music underscoring a well made series of points. A restrained Jezza? Who'd have thought it. Well done, all on TG. I LOVE that piece of music. It's just beautiful. Althought I just finished watching it now and I genuinely just yelled "What the F... " at my computer screen. I then checked the TG site and started BREATHING AGAIN. Was genuinely concerned this was the last TG. If it was, they would have done a DAMN good effort at keeping that secret. Loved the advertisement film. "For people that value their arms!" and they looked rather swish in their "ad men" glasses, I must say. I don't understand James' final ad though. Must watch it again to see if I get the existential references or whatever it was 2nd time around. Poor Richard being marooned on a cherry-picker edit: and also, speaking of pronunciation things, which I read were mentioned earlier re Aspergers... Jeremy: it's Bathurst with a short a, almost e sound not Baaaarth- hurst Idea for S14: They come down here and take a trip around Mt Panorama or see the race itself when it's on.

Idea for S14: They come down here and take a trip around Mt Panorama or see the race itself when it's on. Love it! ;D I've had that thought since the guys were here for Top Gear Live. Still haven't seen the episode. Only 64 hours to go before I finish downloading it. Don't you just love dial up.

OK, I watched it a second time last night (had recorded it for hubby, and he wanted to see it when he came in)... have to admit, a second (and more concentrated) viewing put the episode in a better light... I still stand by my 'insubstantial' comment tho', probably due to the fact that the news, followed by the long ad challenge, followed by the cool wall, followed by SIARPC, filled most of the airtime, with only the two car reviews topping and tailing the show, which did kind of make it feel that there was little in the way of car-related features... however, the end did make me cry this time!

Be worth the wait of course though I deliberately didn't come on the board as I didn't want to see the spoilers before I watched it...but I did love the aussie factor of course *tries not to spoil*

Deliberately didn't click on any TG forum or thing, I left my computer on all day whilst I'm at work downloading the thing, have what turned out to be a crap day and come home for a bit of TG action! (wait, that sounds... great!wrong :-\)

Only niggle was Jeremy mangling the pronunciation of 'Asperger's'. The three syllables are pronounced: As - 'ass', as in donkey per - as in 'purr', the sound a cat makes ger - 'gir' as in 'girth' Emphasis is on the FIRST syllable, not the second. And no soft Gs whatsoever. From someone who was diagnosed with the condition in 2001. Hi Katherine. I've noticed that pronunciation mistake being made on numerous occasions. I've been doing some research into the condition, as I've recently requested assessment for it myself. It would certainly explain one hell of a lot about me and the way I am.

I've been doing some research into the condition, as I've recently requested assessment for it myself. It would certainly explain one hell of a lot about me and the way I am. The mistake probably came about because when the condition was less well known, the soft 'g' pronunciation was the accepted one. The first case I came across was in 1995, and the person with the condition pronounced it that way (she had her diagnosis several years previously). When I was working in a school for children with special educational needs in the late 1990s we had several children with Asperger's and the soft 'g' was used by both the teaching and medical staff at that point. What I believe to be the proper pronunciation, with the hard 'g', has only become more widespread since about 2000.
