Hi Sacher! *waves* Your reasons for liking TG are pretty much the same as mine. I'm no petrolhead either, although the show has made me more interested in cars than I used to be. The humour behind it all is what got me hooked, and then Point #3 kicked in. End of story. ;D Enjoy the board!

@pie I love TG because it's funny, topical, and then because the things they do are just brilliantly outrageous. And I am an unabashed older-man fancier and the more intelligent the better. (I find that age of man + intelligence correlate nicely - the older the man, the more intelligent, up to about age 60 then it *all* goes into a steady decline...) but I digress... Let's just say that after watching it for a bit, James May pushed the right buttons: Older, intelligent, grounded, calm, yet boyish and fun. And I have to admit, a man just isn't a man unless he can do some basic useful stuff around the house in addition to having some culture and refinement, and some general knowledge about things. @from Afar 2 ryuken goldfish, and 3 weather (dojo) loaches, it used to have more but recently hit a bit of a snag due to my dear son introducing some of his toys to the tank. Once I am sure it's stable and I won't be losing any more I'll restock with a few more little ones. (it's a 50 gal.) lew: I doubt I will, to be honest. My son has some special needs and being a mom to him is a full time career which doesn't leave me any time for a 'real' job. The website I created, and the running and admin of it is largely the only job I really want at the moment - trying to do an actual career would be impossible.

jacqui: it's hardly surprising. Given Hamsters' menagerie, dear Fusker, the Top Gear Dog, etc. it would seem animal loving goes along with Top Gear people. And, of course, I didn't mention the contents of the tank in my op, so it could be empty, or house a snake, tarantula, or iguana (that'd be a cool pet!), fish, or be where we have the largest ant farm in the Eastern US... LOL

One of the prettiest cities I've been to-I don't get out of the states too often. Took a long weekend there a few years ago. Plus many years of family vacations at Cooper's Lake campground in early August when I was a kid. I'm in the states too, currently in Madison, WI. Grew up in metro Detroit though. Don't hold that against me too much come hockey season. Oh yes, hello, welcome, have fun, enjoy.

Since Meimichan mentioned hockey, I was wondering if anyone in the states has heard whether we are going to have NFL this season. Die hard Denver Broncos fan here. Used to like Dallas until Emmit Smith left.

Used to like Dallas until Emmit Smith left. At this point I'm thinking no. Gonna be a really depressing sports season, the NBA's locked out too. Thank heavens the NHL isn't, we did that back in 2004-2005. I think my dad spent half that year sobbing. NHL might pick up some fans though if the NBA's not playing this winter either. As a metro Detroit native.............Go Packers. I'll cheer the Lions if they're not being an embarrassment, but I'll gladly cheer the home team of my new state as well. I wouldn't even watch NFL(yes, I'm a bad American, I don't care) except my husband is a big fan, so I can't escape it. He does bow to me in knowledge of hockey though.

I spent many years in Denver (the Elway years) with my fingers firmly planted in my ears so as not to hear Broncos fans going on and on and on....Their fans are insane. Bite me Broncos! Go Chiefs! My hubby is a Raiders fan. You should hear the smack talk in this house come football season. It's even divided my children. ;D

Nice city, did like it, don't get me wrong... But words cannot express how much I hate the Avalanche. They were our MAJOR rivals in the 90's. It's kinda dimmed down between the teams, possibly because the Avalanche can't really play hockey anymore these days. But that was one epic rivalry back then!

If the NFL season is officially canceled for this year, I will be the one carrying a banner and cheering! Sorry, I just can't stand American football in any shape or form.

I have never been to a Broncos home game, only 440 miles away because their tickets sell out quickly. I'm a fan but not a fanatic. I also like the Packers, Chiefs, sorry not the Raiders and the Bears' quarterback is from my state, Brian Urlacher, think he's still there. Sorry about the run on sentence and I'm an English major!

Hockey for the win! ;D I can put up with NFL since my husband's such a fan, but quite often, particularly if it's not the Lions or Packers playing, I usually find somewhere else to be during games. I think MOH might be miserable this fall though and that's not gonna be fun to live with.

MOH used to tape the football games for his high school and watch Monday Night Football before we met. Now he hardly even keeps up with whether or not the Patriots have played or won. I went to a football game at college and stayed for about half of it. I once saw part of a game on television, but it rained so hard half way through that the water was pouring down the bleachers and they stopped the game. So I guess that means I've seen one whole game. I'm thinking that was one whole game too much. I'd rather watch hockey any day! Or perhaps tennis. I went to quite a few hockey games when I was in college. We won the championship the year before I graduated! Love that game! ;D

Hi all. My name is Kat (not my real name, but my poker-nick and most people call me that so why not use it here)
I found this board while surfing for top gear picks, and i thourght it looked interesting. I live in Denmark, and besides poker and top gear I read a lot of books, and watch a lot of snooker.
I am an outdoor person (so it is not all tv & books) Nature is my drug of choice. Makes me high and feel good every time, no matter what the weather is like.
just wanted to say hi.
