A wonderful time here = staying up too late = grumpy the next day = "I hate work" = "I can't concentrate" = "I won't concentrate" = daydreaming = Maydreaming. The wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round... ;D (Overtired? Nahhhhh)

Hello all, I'm Corlawc. I lurked briefly but decided to dive in after reading several wonderful threads. I've only just recently found out about the brilliance that is Top Gear and the beauty that is James May. As some backstory, I had my tonsils removed in September. A car nut friend of mine told me about Top Gear and while completely doped up with pain meds I watched seasons 10-12 on Netflix. It's hard not to laugh while watching TG and it's very painful to laugh after a tonsillectomy. That was a conundrum. Now I've converted most of my friends to watching TG on BBC America but I don't think any of the boys have the same... err, "appreciation" for it I do. Anyways, that's my introduction, I'll see you all around the boards. I've been thinking of trying my hand at some fanart or motivational posters once my work schedule dies down. You all are very inspirational - Cor

Hi Cor, and welcome!
I can relate to your first TG experience as many years ago I had quinsy (a very unpleasant and painful throat condition) and, whilst bedbound and doped up on antibiotics I was given a very funny book to read, so I know what it's like to laugh and go "ouch" at the same time!
Enjoy your time here.

Err, heya. What can I say... I discovered TG when I was 18, it must've been when I was 19 that I became somewhat smitten with James, not sure what prompted it, it just happened. I also admire what he does and the great lengths he goes to achieve it (like in Toy Stories for example). Not only that but TG also ignited my interest in cars, before that, I was only interested in motorbikes, now it's both. My username is steampunk influenced as I absolutely love all things steampunk, the 'steamwave' part was a term coined by steampunk musician Joshua Pfeiffer as a way to describe his music. I liked it so much that it became part of my username. The first part of my username references the fact that I'm part British as well as liking lots of aspects of British culture. I also liked how the two names sounded together. As well as steampunk, I'm into music (I have very odd tastes), drawing, painting, songwriting, cooking and playing video games among other things. I also have this tendency to daydream, my favourite colour is black and I'm a total tomboy. ;D

Welcome, britishsteamwave!
You say that you have very odd tastes, but here you'll find that you share at least one of them with all of us. And we're all mad, if James is to be believed. Oh well. ;D

Hi Hops, thanks for the welcome. James thinks we're mad? I'm sure he means it in a nice way though.

oh hullo! *waves*
I'm Alinta, I'm a 24y/o University teacher from Australia, and it's a pleasure to finally be a member here after being a bit of a lurker! I remember I started watching Top Gear aaages ago... (maybe 2003?) when my boyfriend at the time would download fast tracked episodes from the UK. I always thought James had the best character (and the best hair). I then went to Uni and found I had a lecturer who looked just like him, so I've almost been in heaven ever since with two of them to look at.
I was in London at the start of 2010 but my James interest had waned at the time and so now that I look back on it, I had gone through Hammersmith on a bus without even realising how close I might have been... ARGH what an idiot I was! I might have to do a James pilgrimage one day soon.
But I am seeing TG Live when they come down under in March, so if there are any other girls on this forum from Aust who would like to arrange a TG stalk with me, let me know! heh
Cheers!
Alinta
PS. I realise my forum name '2metal' might seem a little strange in this context, but it comes from a forum name I've had for more than a decade now over on the Metallica.com forum, as I believe the other sexiest man in the world is James Hetfield... what is it with me and men called James who are born in 1963??
