A great first episode.
James' volcano film was brilliant but i'm sure the film didn't do it justice it must have been an amazing sight to see. The best bit as always was the news... although the S('s)IARPC was funny too
Just one thing................... NOT ENOUGH JAMES ;D

Enjoyed it very muchly Thought the new SIARPC bit was good, loved the Bentley bit (I fell in love with the Continental convertable at MPH a couple of years ago) and the Reliant Robin piece made me laugh out loud! I used to live next door but one to a young couple who had one. Hubby was totally besotted with it (same model as the one Jezzer was driving BTW). One evening, the local scallys sneaked up the road and tipped it over on it's side (I know, I shouldn't have laughed and I wouldn't have until I saw his response ) He went absolutely ballistic! He couldn't have been more cross if someone had poured paint stripper on his Ferrari ;D ;D PS Loved Jezzer talking dirty Yorkshire

Yes, I noticed the relative lack of James as well but still a good "serious" programme!
Loved the bit with the Reliants - my cousin Up North used to have one (she had a bike license) with no passenger seat at all but I don't think she managed to roll it. She did stab it with a screwdriver in frustration once though!

I enjoyed it but I did not think it flowed quite has well has some eps. I remembered when a 3 wheeler crashed into a garden wall, near where I lived, it demolished the wall but the body of the car was left on some wasteland and it sat there untill they built some warehouses on the land. Also my friend had one when she went into labour, she did not half feel it when the car when into the groves in the road

OK, the Bentley Continental film was very arty but was ok. News felt a bit stilted and back to school, next week should be good. The James volcano film was really interesting but not enough of it. More James please! The new reasonably price car is an interesting choice and the BBQ was a nice touch. I wasn't impressed with Louie Spence's antics but when you book him that's what you get. I was disappointed they didn't have any 'Lady cakes'. Would have been nice to have had a nod to the original, tea party in series 8. The Robin Reliant film was too scripted and too many falling overs and finding famous people to set it upright again. It was ok but then it was a Jeremy film. If they are going to do a running gag this is the way www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LwMZHrRG0IOverall not a bad start to the series. The first one is always a bit back to school and hopefully now they aren't manic and rushed, the series will be one it deserves to be.

It did feel better to me than last year's shows though, and I think it bodes well for the rest of the year. They need to drop the characterisations though. On the other hand, I loved James's film, the Bentley film was nice (though the conclusion was odd). Not enough 'proper' car stuff for me, but series openers are always a bit hit and miss, and they did have a big chunk of it dedicated of necessity to the new RPC. It seems OK to me.

Really enjoyed it. Thought James' volcano segment was the best (not just because of James!), followed by the fabulous testosterone-fuelled direction on the Bentley section.
The news was pretty good, the new RPC section was a bit overlong and the Reliant segment was a bit self-indulgent but then again, it was definitely a Jeremy piece.
A very good start, but why are there only six episodes? Seems such a waste of the talent.

Only have seen the volcano film, but what a treat!
I have just spent 10 days in Iceland and every Icelandic person I met told me that the latest eruption (even the ash one) was only very small by Icelandic standards. Guess James will have to go back one day when a big one occurs. He's now proven he's got balls of steel anyway. ;D

Found it a mixed bag for me, but really enjoyed it. Some bits they really need to work on badly (their personalities are too much for the show) but I really liked the whole visual of it. James's film was quite nerve racking at some points (I could never drive through a blizzard) but very well executed. SIARPCs and Reliant Robin and power test seemed fine, I laughed though but indeed just fine.
I'm looking forward to the next episode already.

You can watch them here. You need to have an older version of DIVX which they have on the site. Make sure you have java installed and click on the "beta" helper so the episodes load. They have them all www.ninjavideo.net/cat/2674

Here is another site that shows Top Gear continuously. You can choose the shows, but they start with episode 1 and run until current. I keep this on at work. Even has a popout window. Brilliant www.justin.tv/rajkop

Enjoyed some of it. The volcano film was very good, and could have been longer. I lost interest in the reliant robin stint though. Maybe it was the weather but I didn't really stick with the whole episode. The new car looks good, even if it seems more red than brown to me, and the stars coming along worked well enough, but has been done before. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood....

I greatly enjoyed the programme, it was just lovely having something on TV that I enjoy watching. I loved the volcano segment with James, but felt it could have been a bit longer (it probably was, but got pared down in the cutting room.) The Reliant section was good, it brought back memories of uni, when a friend plus her luggage was ferried back and forth in one, a journey of over 80 miles, not 14 Jeremy. I quite enjoyed the launch of the reasonably priced car too. James looked lovely and I liked his hair, Jeremy was just Jeremy. What has Richard hammond done to his hair, it looked awful.

Enjoyed the first show of the series but felt (like maygrail) that it was like first day back at school. Found reliant section bit too obvious, and the news section a bit disjointed, am sure it will improve over the series. Still better than most other things on TV at the moment though........
