Our house is a bit of a mish mash - some rooms are easier on the eye than others. Our bedroom is cream, gold, claret and plum. A friend said it sounded like a bordello!
I can live with bright colours - but James would hate the mess I live with........but that's kids for you.

Having read some of these colour schemes (including James's) I've realised that my house is quite muted in comparison! e.g. the living room is in pale greens with teak furniture, as it's a long room and the back wall is all glass (patio doors), looking out to the trees, so the eye is drawn down the room to the green and brown of the outside.
Good grief! That sounds so pretentious! I'm embarrassing myself but I'm not going to delete as there's room for everyone's tastes on here, I'm sure!

My living room is in warm tones of various muted oranges and rich reds. The carpet was once cream (pre kids) but now bares several battle scars which we have attempted to hide with a stripey rug.

My old house was ace, but only if you had the kind of colourblindness that makes you see everything in shades of greyish brown. It looked like an explosion in a Dulux factory. The living room had coral and gold walls and red carpets and curtains (which toned better than you'd think), the dining room had red walls and mock wood panelling (really naff, but less horrible than the plaster underneath it, so I never dared take it down). The main bedroom was a sewing workshop, so you couldn't see the walls at all because they had clothes rails all over them, my ex's bedroom was pale blue and my bedroom had turquoise walls and yellow paintwork, including the doors. Oh, and Thunderbirds curtains, bedding and lampshades. The hall and stairs were three shades of blue, from light at the bottom to a deep royal blue at the top, with matching deep blue carpet. It was horrendous, but I loved it. I'm quite miffed at the whole idea of Man Lab though. It's not the concept, so much as it sounds like my kind of place... and I wouldn't be allowed there because I'm not a man

Your hallway looked lovely. I can't comment on the rest of it because it was full off boxes & stuff and I couldn't really absorb the colour scheme...

Oh, he's so charming in that last one! I loved his natural reaction to that lady, after which he went on like nothing had happened.. And the "Oh well" smile at the end. Very sweet.

I love it when footage that normally would have ended up on the cutting room floor makes it onto the screen, as with that last trailer. It lends a more human element, somehow.

Just warning you that there is a preview in (yes, I know!) the Mail's Weekend magazine of 'Man Lab' which is, IMHO, a tad petulant. I'm not going to reproduce it because we would all get very, very cross. Suffice to say that the writer, Simone Andrews says, amongst other things, "there is something a little sad about his latest series" and - the piece de resistance - "there cannot be many women who will hang out the flags in celebration of a man who, at heart, seems to be more interested in playing with toys than really growing up".
Oh, how truly, utterly wrong you are.
Simone Andrews, eh? Ladies, unite. We all know who will, as they say, be up against the wall when the revolution comes.

Don't know whether anyone's clocked this, but he seems to be doing only radio promotion for Man Lab. I've searched all his usual TV haunts and found nothing.
I can't help but wonder whether this is something to do with the London Pride promotion (which is very much visual) going up at roughly the same time. Perhaps there has been some sort of arrangement?

Can I join in your fight please? (I'm not dressing up though) How wrong could this stupid, stupid, stupid man be! With a name like Simone, I think you'll find that this writer is female! She should have a look in here. She might just find it enlightening, as she is evidently unaware that James already has many female fans. I don't see anything wrong with playing from time to time, with toys or whatever. Even an intelligent, mature adult such as James has the right to play sometimes; we all do. The world is serious enough as it is!

Silly Simone woman. I suppose I'm not allowed to build a Meccano Spitfire because that might possibly count as 'playing', and women are obviously far too grown up and sensible to do things like that. Bah. When we stop playing, we may as well stop doing everything. Silly cow.

LOL, methinks Simone is just sad she can't play for a living and get paid for it. Nyah.

Great article! ;D One of his best, IMHO. It's actually in The Observer, rather than The Guardian, but they share the same website. Thanks for posting it, Violet. I wonder if anyone ever found that glider...

I bet someone is rummaging in their attic or garage right now, searching for that glider that ended up in their backyard one afternoon! ;D ;D
