Damn and blast.....looking for where ;D thanks for that and if anyone knows where, please tell me or post Sorry. I just assumed...(FAIL MODE initiated) Eh, stop that. *FAIL MODE stopped*. Some people are just a little more familiar with the TG site - and then again, some of us pick these things up quicker than others. I, for one, was thankful for the links, but I'm sure I would have found the vids eventually. (Still, we're all impatient for our James, around here!) ;D

This is so much fun. I'm enjoying this far more than you would think - watching some scruffy bloke drive to work in a dodgy t-shirt and an old yuppie-mobile really shouldn't be this entertaining. I'm just glad James didn't get rid of this Porsche when he was thinking about it a while back because he clearly loves it to bits. Personally, I think it's my favourite of the May stable, and having seen it 'in the metal', it's an absolutely gorgeous thing. To me, because I grew up in the 70s and 80s, that is just what a 911 should be.

I find it really interesting when he makes the artistic/autistic reference, because people like James with their precision, slightly obsessive qualities and not quite being in the real world ("What's the problem with car parts in the bath?") to those in education could be described as "somewhere on the edge of the spectrum" (ie autistic spectrum). There are lots of people with the same traits as James, mainly men (I was married to one for a long time) who function perfectly well in the real world but are just a bit, well, different. Interesting that he perceives/recognises it in himself. I was interested in that reference too, as I have long suspected that James might be on the high-functioning end of the autistic spectrum. I know that I am not alone in this speculation; a while ago, I found a couple of discussions on the subject elsewhere on the Internet, while I was researching Asperger's Syndrome (in relation to myself, not James). Actually, it's pretty normal for the more high-functioning individuals to recognise the existence and nature of their condition. Unfortunately, this can sometimes lead to a great deal of frustration, but it can also be beneficial, as it enables them to explain the situation to others, and to seek assistance if needed or desired. Neurological theories aside, I just love the way his mind works, I love that car, and I'm thoroughly enjoying this particular journey. Bring on the next clips! ;D

To me, because I grew up in the 70s and 80s, that is just what a 911 should be. Any other bloke (and possibly any other car), and I suspect it wouldn't be this much fun... but as someone else who (well, I can't say "grew up" as I suspect I still haven't! but... yeah) got bigger in the 70s and 80s myself, and who pressed my curious nose against one or two of these sweet yuppie-mobiles when they were new(ish), this is indeed the car that comes to my mind when someone mentions "Porsche". And yeah, well, it's James, and quite frankly he makes even the mechanical workings sound entertaining (and as someone who was never gifted in that sphere, for me to say that is saying one heck of a lot!)

I'm really enjoying the drive videos, too - it's just fun to be able to feel like you're sitting in the neatest red 911 I've ever seen (though, sadly, not yet in the metal, hee!) being, well, just normal with James. Also his whittering on about gaffer's tape had me rolling. XD

James on cornering: "It's like putting physics in a hall of mirrors."
I love analogies like that. ;D

God! He's so good with words. I wish I could handle them as well as he does - you get the impression he just casually tosses them off without a backward glance whereas we mere mortals have to really work at it.

I mean, he isn't even prepped like he would be for a normal presenting piece. It's totally off the cuff there, and he's still just awesome. I bow to him.

I like to imagine that these clips show us as close as we're going to get to the personality of the real James rather that "T.V.'s James May" I'm looking forward to the director's cut with soundtrack version they're working on.

Just wondering, with some of the famous/note worthy people that James has mentioned seeing in his drive to work -- Do celebrities in England get basically the same treatment as everyone else? Buying their newspaper or picking up a bottle of wine at their local shops - no one really pays much more attention to them than to any of their other customers?
I know in many towns here in the US, celebrities are treated just like everyone else. No fuss made. In a town local to me, many celebrities have second (or possibly third/fourth) homes where they go to "get away from it all" and the locals couldn't really care less. They get the same service and treatment as the guy who has lived all his life there. Several top dragster drivers, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn have homes there. No one but tourists really care.
Just wondering?

I'm sure this is the case otherwise they would be able to go about their business although i'm also sure they got the odd nutter that has never seen a celeb before ;D One of the regulars in my parents pub was George Harrison, he was just one the crowd...on occassion visitors to the town and the pub would ask for pictures etc. but half the time he would just sit and chat to the other regulars and they in turn would treat him just as they would anyone else - no one special - just a bloke having a pint ;D

These clips are just brilliant. I love the way he just natters on as if we are in the car with him, well I guess we are in a way but I'm not sure I could keep up the conversation without anybody replying to what I am saying.
Like James I too hate filling up with petrol but James, only £27, yesterday I managed to spend £57, ouch. It's only an ordinary Focus and I wasn't filling up with supreme pretrol either. OK, I had let it go down to almost empty, I have one of those trip computers that I rely on all the time.

There's definitely someone at TG Towers who recognises that James has a strong personal fanbase and is making attempts to cater for it. I'm assuming whoever that is has worked out that much of the fanbase is female!

If I were working for a marketing company - marketing people that is - I'd spend some time checking out what the public thought and wanted. But you can't really ask them survey-style. You get a more honest answer just by listening.
Wouldn't be surprised if we've had a mole or two. ;D
