I'll gladly hug him on behalf of everyone... ;D ;D On twitter they posted "James May drives to the studio!" with a link, and I got VERY excited because I thought it was the uncut version, but it turned out to be just the final part... again Hurry up, TG!

The last one is fab indeed, from afar! I loved JM getting all worked up because of the cars driving in front of him on HIS road! I have a question for all of you JM drives to the studio - lovers. I enjoyed the whole driving to work series but at times I also got a bit, I don't know, slightly embarrassed or endeared? (oooh, I'm not trying to get myself banned here, honest ) Sometimes James doesn't say anything at all for a short while and then starts talking about a seemingly random topic. It feels like he's thinking "hmm, the camera is on... what shall I talk about? Dee dee dee.. Oh yes, the future of motoring!". So, is there anyone here who recognises this? Do you have an alternative to my version of James's mental dialogue?

I think we'd all be in the same boat, Hops. If I knew I was being filmed and there was no one else to talk with, I'd probably be searching for an interesting topic or two. I suppose it's possible that he ran a few ideas through his mind before heading out. "What to talk about? What to talk about?" Considering the length of the journey, I think he did quite well. ;D Can't wait for the supposed uncut version!

I've really been wondering if TG has been a bit mean to us and merely taunted us with an uncut version! D'OH. I've had the same thoughts about James' monologuing. He had to do an hour's journey totally off-the-cuff. After a while, one would run out of things to say, naturally. I think he did rather well. Sometimes I have found myself wishing we could just sit in a little bit of silence as he drove, though. I know he's pressed to produce ~entertaining car material~, but it could have been quite nice.

What the hell is taking them so long? If it's uncut surely it's just a matter of putting it up on the website?!?!

I think, Wen, they try to space out clips during each hiatus. That way they have goodies to post over time. (We're looking at a long hiatus this time, too.) As much as it stinks to wait, I can understand. They posted extras from James' Veyron SS film, but took it down within hours, and now this film hasn't gone up yet at all. I'm hoping they post these things over the next few months!

Hops I get what you mean, and I agree with the others too that James (being James) would have run through ideas to chat about before he did this... cos it is a long journey to keep chatting to no one but a camera. He did well to keep up the monolgue. Having said that I would have quite happily just watched him drive in silence for a while..... would have been even better if I was in the car with him As for the uncut version I also agree that I guess they are spacing out postings as TG is off air and it keeps the fans "hooked" to space new stuff out for a while? But I do wish they would hurry up about it!Edited as I can't spell as usual

He did well to keep up the monolgue. Maybe he put post-its next to the camera! ;D Nice to know that some of you recognise what I said! And, although I adore his voice I agree wholeheartedly with the idea of having James drive and not talk for a while, that'd be excellent. I love watching him drive, having a man in command of the steering wheel who knows what he's doing is just . I could elaborate on this point in the NC.. ;D

With you on that one, Hops. Don't know what it is; perhaps it's the contrast between the caressing of the leather of the wheel, and the strong confident grip needed to......
*......will someone please lead me to the Naughty Corner? I seem to have lost control of all my faculties!*
ps - Funny the topic has come up as I think it might get guys too, based on something that happened yesterday. I was cruising on the motorway, listening to music, and as I do sometimes I was rubbing my hands up and down the wheel in time to the music, flexing my fingers etc, not thinking I was doing anything special, till I noticed a youngish guy in the next lane who was pacing me and watching. When he saw that I'd clocked him he sort of spluttered and drove away at speed!

Love it, Dit!! ;D I've been known to caress the steering wheel while listening to the radio. Never noticed if anyone else was watching though. ;D B****y hell, I've never considered that anybody might be watching me drive. It's the only time I can ever get to sing out loud. I often think of James when I'm driving (yes OK, I think of James a lot) and I wonder what it would be really like to be alongside him when the cameras are switched off. I think we'd all be happy for him to do silence whilst we ogled but I guess those vids weren't soley for our benefits (shame ). It's wierd because after watching those clips I confess that I actually tried to do what he did. Boy was it hard! He's just such a natural with words, another reason why I adore him. He has it all, brains, looks, style and well ahem, ................ better save the rest of this sentance for the NC.

Unfortunately I occasionally forget that my car roof is down and carry on singing. It's not fair on the human race, I know, and I stop very abruptly when I get to traffic lights!

I've just found this statement on the Top Gear site - don't know how long it's been there, but at least it answers some of our questions:
"ED’S NOTE: Thanks to San1 and everyone else requesting the long-awaited “director’s cut” of James driving to the studio. It is coming, honest. We’re having a few technical problems with its sheer length. Basically, the internet can’t handle it."
