Top Gear
Tuesday 21 December 8:00pm - 9:05pm BBC2
Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May compare the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Ferrari 458 Italia in an epic road trip up America's east coast. They undertake a series of challenges culminating in a race to find the fastest way into New York City, all in the name of crowning the world's greatest sports car. Plus, motor-related gear for Christmas and another Star in a Reasonably Priced Car.
Sorry RG nicked it ;D
I suppose pic's and bit's will slowly creep out, until the day it's self.

I just missed them when they were filming this - we arrived in North Carolina and drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway two days after they'd been there ;D

I am honestly so excited to see this. I am from New York originally and I am just chuffed that they've been anywhere near anything I personally know!

No probs, didn't know where to put it. Really looking forward to what they do. From what I've heard, they went off road at some point.

Opportunity for all the US gals to join the oh b*gger i was only 10 minutes down the road club... I'm sadly in that club. What makes it worse was that I KNEW they were there! I just couldn't get into Manhattan that day. On the bright side, the room that were were stripping and painting at the time looks great. Next time. If there is one.

Yes! One of the guys who was driving for them had twittered about it. And there were updates from other people as well. I had promised my beloved that we would finish painting that stupid room that took forever to finish and I would occasionally check the intertubes to see if there was an update. Of course, this only made me feel worse. I would see a pic and be like, "They're in Central Park!" "They're in Times Square!" And there I was, sweaty and covered in light blue paint.

Sorry if that was me the decorating would take go to the back burner. ;D
I loved the way you could walk around NY and see on the lamp posts etc signs of what was going to be filmed in that area. If i lived there i'd be forever following the notices ;D

Oh, Sock. I'm so sorry - I think I would have gone mad if I'd been stuck so close and not been able to go! I'm in Maine and felt similarly as NY really is my home and I've only been away from NY for about seven years. I miss it terribly.
That day was a lot of fun to follow, though. I was following a few people on Twitter who were tracking them as they traveled through Manhattan - it was really fun to see the updates as they came in! A friend of mine actually got to meet James after it was all over. It was so awesome.

Don't blame you VioletR for missing it - I loved NY can't wait to back again ;D I was born there and raised just outside the city; there really is no other place like it in the world, warts and all. ;D

I enjoyed it; a good balance between cars and silliness (and the cars were brilliant). Hammond's hair looks good, wish I could say the same for James' as it had that 'I've just been shorn and I'm shocked' look about it but he's still James and seemed to be enjoying himself. After all, hair grows.
As always, the Christmas gifts section was hilarious, and AP - Saw you!

More importantly, did you all spot Mr W? Behind the Christmas tree during the news - well within groping distance

Behind the Christmas tree during the news - well within groping distance Saw you AND saw Mr W Gosh, they cut so much, not that they had much choice and yet it still ended up at 75 minutes... pity the friction motor salt and pepper pots and dressing up James (and Richard and the panties) didn't make it in. Mind you, IIRC that was the point where Jeremy said a very rude word and when they did the pickup, the others didn't have their silly garments... and to be honest, if anyone worked out what 'custard' meant they probably wouldn't have let that through anyway...

I enjoyed this - lots of laughs. I loved the NY bit - but then I love NY.
Mr Crumbs said James now reminds him of his Auntie Joyce. As Dit says - hair grows. I just hope James's hair grows as fast as Jezza drives.
Great start to the series. Just wish I had more time to make intelligent comments! More anon maybe - nighty night.

Thought it was very good. For me, there were many laugh out loud moments and thought Danny Boyle was very quick given the conditions. Hopefully, the TG site will put up some of the out takes for those of us who were not lucky enough to be there on the day

Thought tonights episode was brilliant, lots of laughs, some silliness plus some serious bits too. It seems like the old Top Gear magic is back.
But of course there was one aspect that I just can't grow to like ............ James's short hair. Trying to get used to it but sadly no, not for me.
Richard's new har cut is, however, lovely.

However, when I was waiting for the hangar doors to open, I saw Danny Boyle out on the track and I was really not surprised that he got a decent time because he was absolutely flying. Mind you, I know how quickly I went around that track (with a pro behind the wheel) ;D

Custard? (If it can be explained! If not here, perhaps in the NC? You've raised my curiosity!)

Dit, you're familiar with the concept of portmanteau words, aren't you? Two words coming together to form another? The first two letters come from one word and the rest from another...

You were watching S15 last summer - 6 episodes of it. This has been titled S15E07 by the BBC, even though it's only just been filmed now. The Boxing Day special has been titled S16E01. So not really a long story, my bad, it's just no-one really knows why it's called as such, so there's been loads of interweb rumblings about it on another site. I'm uploading the episode at the mo and will post a link tomorrow. Final Gear have a torrent up, and so do The Box, but you need to be a member of the latter, even though it's still free to d/l.
