James will be in 'Fame in the Frame'. It's about forger John Myatt painting a celebrity into a famous painting. James will be the subject in Lichtenstein's "In the Car". The series will be on Sky Arts at 8pm on Tuesdays, starting 8th Feb but I don't know when James's programme will be aired. Here's the picture: www.artchive.com/artchive/L/lichtenstein/inthecar.jpg.htmlOther guests are Stephen Fry, Ronnie Wood and Myleene Klass

That's OK! Makes a change for me to find anything. I don't usually bother to read the Sky Monthly mag but it was in front of me while I was eating my breakfast, so I flicked through it. I have a great interest in art, so this programme caught my eye.

That's awesome. I did a bit of research of Lichtenstein's "In the Car". It resonates the notion of a fragmented relationship, conveying the hierarchy of the man and the vulnerability of the woman. I really adore it because it reminds me of the old romantic hollywood films.
And also, you can see it snip of the picture in 9x02 when they're at the Scottish Museum of Modern Art, which is where it is displayed.

The Sky Arts website has pictures of all the subjects in this series, including this ( I never know whether to spoiler stuff like this, I kind of assume that more people would want to know beforehand than not. Anyway, I don't know how to do spoilers! If most people would rather I spoilered, please let me know.)

It looks more like Mr May than the bloke in the original does. However, the fact that the most May-ish thing recognizable in the picture is the BFS is amusing.

James looks delectable in that photo.
I saw the pictures of Stephen Fry and Ms Klass in the Sky mag and whilst the forgery part was good, his rendition of the celebrity was less so. On the face of it, he's an excellent forger but maybe isn't so good at blending a likeness of said celebrity into the style of the original.
As Jacqui says, it'll be interesting to watch the programmes and see how it all comes together. And it'll be another drooling experience I'm sure.

The blue flowers on his shirt are a nice touch, but other than the nose it really doesn't look like him Actually, what's wrong is the chin. James has a much longer chin than the original guy, but I guess they couldn't get it into the painting.

The nose isn't right either. Methinks the artist didn't look at James first! ;D

This programme, and indeed the whole series, looks really interesting, so I'll be either tuning in or setting Sky+. It'll make a change to see James in something related to the arts, rather than science. To be honest, I don't think it matters that the finished painting doesn't look exactly like James; as far as I can tell, Lichtenstein paintings aren't meant to be exactly representative of their subjects, anyway.

I wonder what James will do with the painting when all is said and done. I suppose he could donate it to a charity to be raffled off! ;D

There's a snippet about the programme in next week's Radio Times. It says that Mr Myatt found this one v difficult indeed, that he aged 20 years in the production of it but took 20 years off James (in the pic). Apparently James gives v little about himself other than his urge to hit Jeremy with a shovel! It also said he fidgets a lot (bless him) but tries to be helpful and is v happy with the result. It's on p76 I think.
