They're not near you are they? Or is that a chain? Work not play then in California. I thought the same thing about the Mail article. I don't think they get it. They could be near but it's hard to tell. He hinted he was going out to the desert so, not by me. I'm on the coast. In-n-Out is a burger chain in California, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico and Texas. Yummy. The first store was near LA 65 years ago.

James tweeted this morning, quite cheerfully, from Heathrow, but a couple of hours ago (around 8pm) was still on the runway. Must have been a pretty dreadful day for him and the other passengers. Wonder where he was heading?

Twitter can be very useful for picking up information.
Apparently James is in Berlin. A couple of people have tweeted that they've seen him, though this guys clearly just doesn't get it
George Clooney just walked out of lift at our hotel. Daisy having palpitations.. Guess its better than James May we saw at breakfast

Remember the soldiers from Race2Recovery ? well. THEY'VE DONE IT! well done fellas! I've been following Team Joy - R2R's last remaining Wildcat after their other cars suffered failures earlier in the Dakar - with my heart in my mouth all week since they became the last group carrying R2R's hopes. Have to admit I had a few tears when they did it. Nice to see Richard retweeting the good news too. What an amazing, fantastic achievement. Congratulations to them

Somebody tweeted Richard several days ago to request that TG do a followup with the R2R guys. I think a few more tweets in that direction would be a good idea too.

I'm delighted that R2R have made it successfully. Much kudos to them; it must have been an exceptionally hard toil.

Anyone else a bit puzzled as to the total lack of acknowledgement on twitter from James of the THOUSANDS of birthday wishes? Surely a blanket thank-you was called for. A bit weird, don't you think?

He's barely tweeted at all over the last few days so, no, not really. I don't think he even reads most of the tweets he gets.

You're absolutely right of course. There just wouldn't be time. Still, I have noticed that he has replied to a few from many hours past, so he must trawl through them occasionally....when he's REALLY bored!

Since I originally posted it on Twitter , and I can't get one of the picture to post on here on the board , I'll post the link here. Is it just me, or does anyone else think Richard III looks like Lord Farquaad from Shrek? ;D

Yes, especially the pointy chin and hair.

He does indeed. Weird.

I suspect Lord Farquaad was based on something like Laurence Olivier's Richard III, which was based on the portraits of Richard III and other random Plantagenets. The chin's a bit of a coincidence, though.
Talking of which, I hope there are no Ricardians on this board, because I've come to the conclusion they're all as mad as sackful of ferrets.
Quite apart from seeing that woman on TV who initiated the dig in the carpark weeping and draping flags over a cardboard box full of bones, I keep stumbling across people who are genuinely upset that he's not going to be reinterred at York Minster and who are signing petitions and planning demonstrations because it's "what he would have wanted". Two weeks ago, they didn't know he was there at all!
Anyway, Richard III society - odd bunch.

I don't belong to any society, but I think I will be contraversial. Richard III spent some time in Scarborough castle, and indeed, on Scarborough seafront there is a Richard III house where he is porported to have lived. Outside the house is a hunchback effigy of him, therefore it seems fitting he is buried in St, Mary's churchyard Scarborough, or indeed anywhere he has lived/visited. But York would be fitting.

I agree that the lovely, genuine lady who had a fondness for Richard lll didn't perhaps give the best impression of the objective historian, but those of us who read josephine Tey's novel "The Daughter Of Time" in our youth have been on Richard's side for a long time. The book deals with a modern investigation of Richard's presumed 'crimes'. It was written in 1951, so the theories that he wasn't as bad as he's been painted have been knocking around for a long time.
I also think he should be buried in York. Richard of York, tends to give a bit of a clue, yes?

Richard of York, but also King of England. So why no support for burying him at Westminster Abbey along with many of his ancestors and descendants? I realise that Richard was probably not the out and out weasel he was painted by Shakespeare, but I once went to the National Theatre to see Ian McKellen's production of Richard III with a couple of work colleagues, one of whom was a Ricardian. She stood up and booed at the end. Like I said - odd bunch.
(Don't really care either way, by the way. The agreement to bury him in Leicester was already in place before the dig even started, so looks like it's a done deal)
