Just back. There were a few issues with navigation (and I'm usually good at finding my way round!) and the amount of shuffling between places for lanyards, entry, and track to arena but the track & arena shows were excellent. There was less spectacle in the arena show but far more silliness, which is a good thing in my book, and there was a track show full of Vroooom, which was a bonus. The exhibition was smaller than the Earls Court one in previous years, but then there were 4 huge halls of Classic Cars/Bikes as well. We took an extra day to do that. It was lovely to meet up with Dit, Jacqui & Antonia. Also Liz, when we found ourselves sitting next to each other in the Arena! I now have almost 800 photos to trawl through and a couple of dozen videos, before I can get anything posted, and I'm busy the next few evenings, so don't hold your breath, but there will be evidence... But here are a few to be going on with: From the Big Screen From the Big Screen Clearing up after Richard's car did a wee

I saw a utube where Jeremy claimed the only place he had been was in the newspapers. I guess they were talking about what they had done in the interim. He did try to get a ride on a nuclear sub twice to no avail.

I was all planned to rush home this afternoon, download all my photos and vids onto the laptop, see if any are actually worth posting (my usual percentage of pics in focus is around 1%) and get on with it, but I haven't even got to the downloading bit yet! When I got home my gas fire remote had died and my Sky+ box had gone peculiar, plus 48 e-mails (most of which were rubbish, but you've got to check, haven't you?) and a number of phone calls, all of which meant I'm seriously behind now.
I agree that the shows were excellent. Jacqui and I went to the only Friday show (when James cracked a dirty joke) and the 3pm on Saturday (when he didn't - I won't quote it unless it went back in or re-appears for the London show, but it would be ironic if the first of the three to be told to behave in front of the audience was James, not Jeremy!)
I have a limited tolerance for watching track driving but what they put together was presented in an entertaining way, and produced enough variety to keep everyone's interest. The arena show was great; lots of silliness in the chats and set pieces, plenty of viewing opportunities for fans of all the guys, and some stunning stunt driving (I don't think I've ever found myself holding my breath so often!). I also reckon there was more proprtionally of the guys cocking around then there has been in past years, as a proportion of the driving that didn't involve them had been moved over to the track section.
I enjoyed the exhibition more than in previous years as so much of it was either actual TG stuff or really closely related, and it was great fun on Saturday evening spending a few hours with Antonia and family and Mayfayre and her OH. Good to finally meet Wy, and we also saw AP but never got chance to talk to her.
I 'll try to get some pics up ASAP but they're probably not as good as what's up here already. I'll hold back on anything that gives away too much though, for the sake of those who are going to the ExCel.
If anyone's wondering whether it's worth going, I've got to say yes, yes, it is. Do it!
(btw, after the ExCel I'll put up that joke if anyone asks, in case he never says it again!)

The new revamped TGL is excellent! The two track shows really gave it a kick up the a*** and let’s be honest, it needed it, it was getting a bit tired!
Excellent pics MF, haven’t even begun to look at mine yet! It was great to meet everyone Saturday night, all in all a very very enjoyable weekend. ;D
PS: If any of the production team are reading this, please can you release the TGL Soundtrack, the music used was excellent, I drove to work this morning with Kanye West blaring out of my little ‘squeeze’ this morning! ;D

The music choices are always excellent - I think I got most excited when they used the music from the old Top Gear Rally Report (a great track by Propaganda) during the track show. When that show started, I thought it would have been a really appropriate thing to use and I was thinking 'they missed a trick there'... but then came the most perfect cars for that music. Made my day to hear that again

Have a link: The track was 'Jewelled', the Duel/Jewel remix It's particularly apt for the show, given that the song dates from just before the cars on display were, um, banned for being a bit mental and killing several drivers...

Brilliant! Thanks for those!
Next question - does anyone know the name of the piece of music that was playing as people were exiting the arena? All I can remember is that it was a bit folky, bit jaunty and it was in 3/4 time (or 6/8). Both performances I found myself lightly jigging to it (not so people would stare!) and hanging back to hear more. Can anyone help?

I have to get up at 4.30am on Saturday to get on a coach 20 miles away at 6.20am. Those who know my habits well will know just how I will be suffering. I'll be back around midnight Sunday. I'm doing it by coach as I couldn't countenance the thought of driving into London, finding the hotel I'd booked, parking, working out the congestion charge, finding the venue.....
I'm looking forward to seeing how it's done differently in London, compared to the layout and content at the NEC. Just curiosity, I guess; I haven't done both before and probably won't again (I like my comforts at the Hilton!) but at least curiosity will be satisfied.

Yes, we had to put lots and lots of pennies in our piggybanks for a very long time to get to stay there!
(Having said that, what the hell was the wine? Must have been a good one!)

I got a deal on the room - so that wasnt so bad! The wine was just a run of the mill Chardonnay! Nothing flash! And the whiskey was just Jamesons - again nothing flash!
£64 - I am still in shock!

This is why I always take a wine box. I also took full advantage of the executive lounge... SOOOOOOOOO much vodka! The room was a bit costly, but given that a double vodka and coke was £12 in the bar, I probably made up for it ;D

Ah, you didn't mention the whiskey! So when you said "three single lemonades" and I thought that meant you had children with you, you actually meant "three whiskies"?

Thanks for all the reports and the piccys everyone VERY much appreciated by those to far far away to be able to attend. No, we shall be restrained and lady-like (though that might mean someone stops me after the third glass of wine!) Really? Restrained? Well…… Clearing up after Richard's car did a wee Errr what Richards car did a pee?! Also….. Is it me or does Jezza look like his lost weight? When I got home my gas fire remote had died Your gas fire has a remote control Wow.... I am behind the times, that sounds amazing!

When I got home my gas fire remote had died Your gas fire has a remote control Wow.... I am behind the times, that sounds amazing! It's very useful, and I'm very lazy! At least it saves all that grovelling about kneeling down trying to get the thing going. But it doesn't give you any clue when the batteries are about to go, it just suddenly bleeps a little tune and won't work, and it doesn't have a manual function. (Note to self - buy lots and lots of 9v batteries - winter's on its way!)
