I'd be willing to buy one on line at the store and ask them to hold it. I have international calling enabled on my phone, so talking to anyone is no big deal. P L E A S E. Believe I'd love to fly over myself but the lottery is not cooperating.

James - your timing is really bad! There is no way i can get time off work to go to one let alone both. To those who are going say "Hi" for me and spare me a thought, i'll be up to my neck in CAT5 wiring and Doctors throwing wobblies over their new clinical software - boring? - hell yeah! I'm not surprised he isn't doing anymore signings, not enough hours in the day or days on the week for James at the moment. Hope you get a rest around xmas time James, you deserve it

James - your timing is really bad! Heck yes. I'll be in Melbourne on the 15th! ;D He obviously misread my request for September 15th, not November. (Or maybe he didn't. ;D)

Is anyone thinking of going to the 5pm at Canary Wharf? I'm still considering it (by train) though there are additional complications that I can't sort out yet. I know the territory as I went there to last December's signing, but I would be on my own and while that in itself doesn't bother me, it would be nice to have someone to talk to during the waiting.

No can do sadly Dit. Work commitments are getting in the way. Which is a shame because I think I could handle it these days. There was a time (when I first joined the board) that I could not foresee getting through a conversation with him without blushing. But these days I'm feeling less flummoxed by him and I'm pretty sure I could chat without embarrassment. Although I'm a proud woman and would probably have to pretend I was doing it to get a signature for someone else. Enjoy your day and please present a full report!

Dit please let me know if you are going. I still have some pounds left over that I can use to buy the book and I can call you. I need something good to happen while I'm dealing with morons while looking for a job.

Wow. Now I'm really bummed out. James is doing a signing on my birthday and I can't be there. What a present that would be! As much as I have been telling TOH that I would fly over for the next signing, we really don't have the money right now. And my leg isn't in that good a shape anyway. Certainly not good enough for me to travel on my own. Now I am depressed.

OMG!OMG!OMG! My husband found a cheap fare and my mom-in-law is keen to go to London so I might actually be able to make this! That would be the best birthday present ever! I just have to wait and see if my mom in law can reschedule an appointment that she has and if she can I'm going to be there for the signing! I'd be arriving the morning of the signing...probably having had very little sleep on the plane but who cares?! I really hope this happens!

Go to reply 30 on this page and the info is in links. If it works out, could I send you a book and have it signed for me? Please let me know, it's on Amazon us for 9.47 or around there and I have free postage. Boy I hope you can go.

That will certainly beat me, just coming down from Lancashire! Yes, I'm going to go, I've made my mind up and checked train details. I've had to cancel a birthday outing - one friend was great about it, the other was a bit sticky but I was treating them, not the other way round! We're rescheduling as two separate nights out so I suppose that's a bonus.
The thing that swung it in the end was that I started thinking about what to ask him to write. (They ask you to write it out on a slip of paper and hand it to him; I embarrassed him last year as I'd forgotten he isn't comfortable writing at length, I asked for a long message and his pen tripped over it). As it's the day after my birthday I plan to ask him to write a brief birthday message. I think that would be appropriate.
Aeromanda, I hope things work out for you! Vivienne, if by any chance Aeromanda can't help you, PM me and I'll try to sort out something for you.

These booksigning events have yet to be listed on the Waterstone's website, so it would appear that they've been arranged fairly recently. Presumably Waterstone's do actually know that they are hosting them...! Luckily, the timing of any of the weekday shifts at work would enable me to attend one of the signings, so I'll definitely be going. Not so luckily, the rota is decided on a week-by-week basis, so as yet I don't know which event I'll be attending. When I know, I'll post it on here. It would be nice to meet up with other JMB folks, if possible.

Likewise, Dit. I'll be at the 5pm signing if I'm on a morning shift. Mind you, a couple of the morning shifts finish early enough to enable me to attend both signings, if I were so inclined. But that really would be overdoing it, so I won't! ;D
