I don't know what's been happening on the board lately to cause upset (cos I can only dip in and out dead quick!) - but you all seem like a really jolly bunch to me. Shazzy - you're one of the many on this board that make me smile and you've got a load of friends that want you to stick around - hang in there! (-;

Wheel clampers...... thieving bunch of baskets .......and they were told I was coming and not to clamp, well they did, £235.00 + another 5% paying by credit card, he had the cheek to ask for cash, fine but I only had 5mins, sadly the bank was ages away (maybe I should've run for it : then the charge would've gone up to £420.00, then it would've been towed away and a £30 a day until I rescued the thing and I've got a stinking cold, I could weep

Why can't I pass my sodding driving test? I've just made a major b*ll*cks of it for the second time. It's not even that I can't drive - my nerves let me down and I may as well send a jelly in my place

I'm sorry to hear that Wyvern. Don't give up - remember James didn't pass the first time, and neither did I.

Keep going it will be worth it in the end All the best people take a few go's to pass Thank you - you aren't the first person to say that. Perhaps I'll take a bit of a break over Christmas and the New Year and come back to it fresh. I just find it deeply frustrating that I love driving as much as I do, and I'm as passionate about cars as I am and I can't get through the test and drive the damn things on my own

It was nerves, pure and simple. I was just completely hopeless. We all know I can do it, and my instructor was astonished that I didn't do it this time, but I went to pieces. That simple. Pain in the arse, but what can you do?

Miserable luck about yesterday Wy - if it will help to make you feel better I shall award you my vote for the BHB's picture of the year! Which one would you like me to vote for on your behalf?
I'm not sure that my vote for Richard's picture will help you, lew, but you can have it if you like. I hope the same, but worse, happens to him. I can't understand how these pirates remain legal.

I'm sorry to hear about your test Wy, I'm sure next time it will be yours! If it's any consolation my Mum is a driving examiner and she is always saying that some of the best drivers she takes on test often fail just down to nerves which cause a few silly mistakes. So I'm sure you're a brill driver your nerves just get the better of you on the day. It happened to one of my best friends. She started learning when we first started Uni but only passed earlier this year on her third attempt, she was ready for her test but just freaked out on the day until third time round she was soo used to the stress of it she just relaxed. Like Daisy and Liz said I'm sure this time next year you will be whizzing about and complaining about traffic and other drivers!!

'Tis done! Thank you Honilia, don't suppose your mum has any insight into how people who pass the test approach it successfully, does she? I'm desperate to be in my lovely little car, ranting about traffic and crap drivers (my instructor laughs because I am always telling people off when I'm driving)...

Sorry about the test Wy. Maybe reverse psychology is the answer. Just think to yourself, Hey ho, I've failed twice already so another time won't matter and go into with a take it or leave attitude. I failed twice myself. The third time I never told anyone I was even taking lessons so I had no pressures or expectations and so felt a lot more relaxed. But that was just me.

I didn't tell anyone this time... But next time, I'll be even quieter about it. My instructor has suggested that I might want to try hypnotherapy if I mess it up again. I'm half tempted to do that before the next test. And hopefully it will be third time lucky for me too

'Tis done! Thank you Honilia, don't suppose your mum has any insight into how people who pass the test approach it successfully, does she? I'm desperate to be in my lovely little car, ranting about traffic and crap drivers (my instructor laughs because I am always telling people off when I'm driving)... She is coming over to see me on Monday, so I will pick her brains for you!! I know with my friend it was just a matter of taking her test so many times until the stress of the actual procedure faded and she could concentrate on her driving.....but maybe my Mum will have more constructive advice.....she is good at that. I have a moan to voice today, though it is kind of silly. I feel embarassed to share it, but I can't moan to anyone else about it I share a flat with four other girls and one of them has a boyfriend who is constantly over at ours, which I don't mind. But just lately he has really started to grate on my nerves with his really immature behaviour. For example, tonight whilst another flatmate and I were eating our dinner he ermmm I don't quite know how to say this....as it's not something I talk about normally....broke wind (I sound just like my Mum ). Which maybe I'm a prude or something but when someone is eating I think it's disgusting. So then when I walked out having not finished my dinner he accused me of just being a b**tch to him!! It's not that at all, I just would expect him to respect the fact I'm eating; like I would respect him. But it's stuff like that all the time.....yesterday I had to listen to him and his mate discuss how they 'w**k' whilst I was cooking and then eating. Maybe I'm getting old but I really don't want to listen to this sort of thing, especially when I'm having my tea!! I don't want to fall out with my flatmate because she is lovely and her boyfriend is, I think it's just a case of immaturity. But at the same time I don't want to be put off my tea every night!!
