I have six brothers (therefore nine in the family) and at one stage we had five cars and six motorcycles....and two boats...and a dog.

Clearly I'm getting off relatively lightly! I think I'd best stop complaining.
(Though did I mention the two jet skis, the trailer, the dog, the three-year-old twin boys.....)

There's a building alarm gone off. Not in my street, but a few streets away, so I can hear it constantly in the background. Trouble is, it went off on Sunday morning, and has been screeching away ever since. It's driving me nuts, so I dread to think what it must be like for the people living closer.
Surely there must be some way to shut these things off from the outside?
Not so much ranting and raving as developing a slight nervous tic

Surely there must be some way to shut these things off from the outside? There is. It's called a sledge hammer ;D And even if it doesn't work, think of all the fun to be had in trying anyway ;D ;D

Well, would you Adam and Eve it? The alarm has finally stopped after two days and two nights. Did hear gunfire earlier, though

Clearly someone has shot the alarm. What a relief for you. I would have gone completely barmy. Likes my peace and quiet I do.

Last Wednesday as I was taking the kids to the school bus I fell. Apparently the sidewalk is uneven and I walked into it. I land on my hands and knees. I couldn't get up by myself so 2 staff members helped me. I had plenty of witnesses. I had abrasions and bruising and have done my due diligence in going the workman's comp route. The doctor said I could work but I couldn't stand, kneel, or sit for more than 30 minutes at a time. The principal said it was unacceptable to her and I couldn't report back. I'm a temporary support person for one child so there isn't anything else at that school that I can do. I went to therapy today and the dr has me out another week. I got this job thru emails sent out by HR. Well a little while ago I got an email for the job at the school. These are sent out to a list of people. I'm on the list so there is the job I'm supposed to be doing. Tomorrow I will call the school and see what the principal says. My son informed me that he knew this would happen. I don't have a union to back me up since I'm temporary. These are just the facts.

That pretty much sucks. Tell the principal you can return in a week. They can never hire & train someone else in that time. Good luck and keep us posted. Take care of yourself in the meantime.

Did you have your accident on school property? If you did, then you need to make an accident report to the Maryland Occupational Safety and Hazard Administration (OSHA). It is the law that the school system pay for your medications and doctor visits. I think there is a window of time you need to pay attention to, and the school has the forms. Otherwise, the school will not be liable for the accident. They need to get that sidewalk fixed!

I'm working with the AACPS workman's comp division. I have a case worker.I've followed protocol from day one. It seems more complicated than in NM. I've come to realize most things are more complicated simply because there are a lot more people here. Karma just hasn't been right here.
