I sent this... It's probably a really crap idea, but it's been on my head for a while. and even more so after I saw the swiss army bike!

What a cool idea, Morgan! I too can picture them doing something along the lines of the Swiss Army bike, or even something with one base and multiple heads like you'd see with the lenses on a microscope, as long as you could pull the in-use brush out farther than the rest. Can't wait to see if they pick up on this!!!

I concur. Great idea, Morgan. I really hope they do it, I'd love to see it in action! I sent them an email last night requesting they do some manly things that are camping related (things like education on edible plants, astronomy navigation, how to build a proper fire...boy scout like things) and anything that involves them working with leather and iron/blacksmithing. I just love it when James builds things with his hands, like his juicer or his bar, and the bigger the better. It's simply fascinating to watch. That couch in the NC will need to be tossed out and James will have to remake it if he works in leather or iron; I'll be breaking it over and over... I outta cash in on my NC frequent flier miles soon... If he does work in leather or iron he will have given me half of my birthday present early this year. Teehee! ;D ;D

Since my kids are both in scouts, I've learned a lot. My daughter even competes with her troop in camping and nautical skills. Hum, the NC couches. Maybe James can show us his upholstery work or refinishing skills. They're very useful. He did wallpapering so, why not? EDIT: Wait, I know! What about basic sewing? When my husband was in the military, they had to show them how to do basic sewing to keep their uniforms looking inspection worthy. James did shining your boots with the officer. So, lets bring him back for dress inspection.

I remember reading in an interview he did with the Telegraph in which he said he wanted to learn how to sew and is fascinated with how clothes are made. It would be cool for him to teach everyone how to fix their own clothes so the women of the world don't have to; self reliance and all that. Besides if there is anyone who can make sewing manly, it's James. ;D

Like it AdrianMay ;D Men should know how to do basic mending etc, Antonia if you need an assistant

Good idea re the mending. Also, didn't James once say he wanted to do a song and dance routine on Manlab? What wouldn't I give to see that! Every man should be able to at least waltz in a rudimentary fashion (which is all I can do!).

I think it's an excellent idea Adrianmay.I'll learn him how to darn his socks and patch his jeans. I think I've read somewhere that, when he was at Uni, he did something to his denims - embroidered on them? Put panels in? Can't remember the details. So you can help him further develop that skill by, say, teaching him how to make a pair of jeans from scratch. My other idea is to invent something to replace the umbrella (a horrendously unreliable piece of kit). Edit: I've just e-mailed those ideas - don't hold out much hope, but you never know

Well I've sent the idea from Adrianmay in on her behalf because she didn't want to do it herself. So if it is picked I don't want shooting for nicking her idea,I've had her permission.

I hope no-one thinks I've pinched Adrianmay's idea, I suppose mine was a sort of sideways thing, and I really wasn't thinking of that when I thought of jeans. Sorry if I've trodden on toes, didn't mean to.
Anyway, I put the umbrella idea first in my e-mail (as it's more technical), so they probably won't bother reading any further, they'll doubtless have rejected the idea in the first few words.

Remember James said he had a new shed but he was going to farm out the work. Have they done anything, can't member, about pouring a sidewalk or small foundation, changing a light fixture, reno type stuff. I've been watching Income Property, Kitchen Cousins and Property Brothers way too much.

Have bumbershoot and umbrella always been used at the same time, or did one replace the other? * how my mind works*

What's a bumbershoot? Is it a different thing, or a different word for the same thing?

I am now thinking about James in nothing more than a leather apron, covered in oil and swear, forging his own things.
and I'm also thinking about James in a fireman suit. mmmm...

Have bumbershoot and umbrella always been used at the same time, or did one replace the other? * how my mind works* Bumbershoot was entirely the invention of the scriptwriters of "Frasier", my favourite ever sitcom and a goldmine of misused and misunderstood British words and phrases. The word doesn't exist in Britain.

Has James ever shown how to change the oil in a car. That is something every man should know how to do. I know they did something similar on Top Gear, but I mean actual details. I know how to do it so men should too. Saves money, also change the air filter.

True gentlemen should be able to waltz.
They should also be skilled in the art of shaving using a cut throat razor ;D
My thinking is stubble and the Mayster ;D ;D

Oh no, not a fireman...If he does do that, forget the couch; I am going to be an unidentifiable quivering mass on the Pacific Coast before long...And if he builds a Maypole, then I'm really done for. ;D Aah, waltzing and singing...I do love that thought. Honestly, the more ideas we send in, the greater chance we have of him choosing at least one of them. And why not? It can't hurt. I think it is better to give him tons of ideas to work with than nothing at all.

I like the idea of singing - we know he can sing, so he would need to develop that - Opera? Barber shop quartet? (He's had one of those singing the theme, hasn't he?)
I really like the idea of shaving with the cut-throat razor - a very manly pursuit!
Perhaps he reads this thread (or gets someone to read it for him) to see what kind of ideas we're coming up with!

I can do a shave with a cut throat razor.I do the other half occassionaly it's fine providing the razor is very sharp and you don't apply to much pressure.
Come to think of it,it's agood relationship tester.Would you give your OH a razor if you didn't trust them??heehee
