Thanks for that, bee. I like these little insights, especially the fact that the theme has never actually been committed to paper. Which I found out when he tweeted me. Sigh. I don't have good enough pitch to suss it out for myself. Plus no piano available. Yet. We should make up words and record a bunch of us singing it and submit that. The JMB Choir for ManLab, yeah!

That is a fantastic photo - unimpressive camera my backside. It's not like he was doing a pro shoot, and the result has such a lovely immediacy. The photographer is clearly a perfectionist, though, which bodes well for his clients ;D

Agreed Wyvern. I actually prefer this version to the cropped one. The "candidness" is more obvious.

Place your bets time!
The air dates don't seem to have been released yet but, on the basis that next week is filled with Great British Bake Off spin-offs, and the following week is full of Autumnwatch, and we know there are five shows and he's mentioned a Christmas special, I'm guessing either w/c 5th November, which will give a run of 5, then a week's gap before the Chrissy show, or w/c 12th November, which would give a straight run up to the Yuletide enforced jollities. His day is usually Tuesday.
Please bear in mind that I'm always wrong before setting your recorders.

James has tweeted this today, in response to someone's enquiry:
Looks like Man Lab is going out in Jan. #Sh%tWeatherBetterRatings
Who looks at the weather forecast before deciding what to watch on telly, in the evening, in autumn??

Told you I'd be wrong.
Anyway, what with that and Top Gear, we're all going to be rather over-stimulated in January

I was hoping to be just adequately stimulated in the next few weeks

Wonder if they'll still put one out at Christmas? It would now be a taster, rather than an end-of-series.
(Jacqui, keep taking the tablets!)

I'm sure he mentioned filming a Christmas special, or was it my imagination? If so, I'm sure they'll find a spot for it over the festive period. He also said Toy Stories was due at Christmas.
We'll have to spend February lying down in a dark room.

It's now official. Straight from the horse's mouth - or more precisely, straight from James on Twitter. I'm going to have to clear some space on my Sky+ box for January.
There is a new series of Man Lab in January. I warn you now; it's a bit silly

Ep 1. Thursday, 28th March at 8pm
"New series. The Top Gear presenter continues his quest to help modern men relearn vital skills in danger of being lost, beginning by enlisting a memory champion to help him prepare to commentate on the Grand National. Back in the lab, James builds a one-ton pizza oven from scratch, while his sidekick Rory is challenged to convince a group of connoisseurs that he is the BBC's newest wine expert - with James and Oz Clarke offering help via an earpiece from a van parked outside."
Long time coming - it's almost time for this year's Grand National
