Only because he said so. Other members of the crew were also tweeting, I believe. It's due to be shown "in the autumn", so I'm guessing October-ish

It was Rory (Barker) who specifially identified it as a wrap party rather than a general p1ss-up.
#manlabwrapparty
sim went home early.
Then, this morning
3 hour post-wrap party journey to work.
#hungoverandverylatebutitsnotmyfault
studio wrapping today. Still more shoots/production
EDIT: James has just tweeted, in response to a question as to why Top Gear is not in the Olympics,
Manlab is in the olympics. #JustYouWaitAndSee

I wondered about that. Perhaps they have the wrap party the last time all the team will be together; after that it will be bits and pieces that only involve a handful of people at a time.
Or it was a massive booze-up that they felt they had to christen in order to justify it. You know the sort of thing - "Good grief dear, you don't think we just went out to get p1ssed? It was a wrap party".

Bunji on FinalGear has just posted this bulletin, from Woking, about his encounter today with James, who challenged him/her to a game of rock, paper, scissors:
"He was doing a bit for Man Lab. He challenged me to a game (three throws - first was a draw, second was his win, third was my win) and it was recorded. We chatted a bit afterwards and he mentioned that Woking has produced 3 world champions in the game of Rock Paper Scissors. With his permission I snapped a pic (didn't want to be somewhat creepy and take one of him unawares.) One of my better walks into town!"
There was also a picture, but I can't do anything about that as I'm at work at the mo.

Good to see you again, lindenchase - it's been a while!
The photo is super; hope you don't mind if I 'borrow' it and put it on another thread? It's a good one.

He's also been spotted in a pub with Razor Ruddock, and pictured wearing what appears to be a shirt with the Manlab logo on the back

Perhaps they are blissfully unaware of what's about to hit them... remember when TG took over BBc Southern Counties radio..... that didn't go well ;D

He was obviously being charming in Woking - this from twitter mrjamesmay as in top gears mr may? Coz he did a card trick on my neighbour in Woking yesterday just before she popped in. My boys were well impressed by my elderly neighbour even if she had no idea who he was we do

At last, a bit of information about Milton Keynes radio tomorrow (Tuesday)
Published on Monday 13 August 2012 17:14
TOP Gear star James May will be broadcasting to Milton Keynes tomorrow (Tuesday).
As part of his TV show Man Lab ‘Captain Slow’ will be on the air on Tuesday, August 14 from a canal boat on the Grand Union, starting the day in Cosgrove Wharf and docking at Fenny Stratford at around 4pm.
Radio Man Lab will be available on 107FM on Tuesday.
If you are interested in being part of James May’s show, email manlab@plumpictures.co.uk
(Though it's from the local paper, and if it's anything like my local paper it'll be wrong)

Don't get me started on local newspapers!
Hellishly off topic, but my favourite local front page headline: "VICAR RESCUES HORSE FROM DITCH"
Slow news day - one of many
OK, back to Manlab

He's just added
'There will still be Radio Manlab, it's just delayed. #NationShallSpeakUntoNationEventually'
I imagine he's gutted as he was still actively promoting it up to two hours before it was pulled, so it must have been a last-minute decision. I did find it odd that the radio station involved didn't have anything about it on their website, and the local press only seemed to pick up on it late afternoon today. I'm guessing there may have been some tense moments tonight.

Double post, sorry.
I actually tuned into Milton Keynes radio this morning to see if there was any reference to the Man Lab postponement, and I must admit that it seems the most unlikely sort of station to get involved with Man Lab. It's apparently relatively new and just seems to churn out top 20 stuff without a break, apart from about once every half an hour when a very young voice comes on and says in effect, 'that was that record, this is this one'. Hardly seems to fit in with the concept of Man Lab transmitting all day as they sail down the Grand Union canal.
Love Fungus are disappointed
Unfortunately, our singer Mat McIvor will not be talking to James May on the radio today! James May's Man Lab are having technical problems and the show has been postponed until another date! We'll keep you posted on when and where!
