Melly, I loved Barry White. That sexy ultra-deep voice was a real turn-on back in the 70s!
The chorus I sing with in DC and the National Symphony Orchestra will be doing a concert at Wolf Trap in northern Virginia next Friday night. It's called BROADWAY ROCKS! and it includes all kinds of wonderful Broadway and rock tunes. We'll be doing things by Queen, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Journey, REO Speedwagon, and the Beatles, as well as songs from THE LION KING, RENT, MAMA MIA. It's going to be lots of fun!

Saw them in Hammersmith last year - fantastic. It's nice to find a fellow fan! Have you heard Within Temptation? They're very similar to Evanescence, though I think Amy Lee's voice is hard to beat.

I've liked Evanescence since the start and this is the first time I'm gonna see them and I'm looking forward to it! We where (my friend and I) actually thinking about seeing them in Birmingham since neither one of us has been there before, but decided for a weekend in London instead. And yes I do Like Within temptation as well! I'm agreeing with you Amy Lee's voice is hard to beat!

We'll have to compare notes after the concerts. My brother recommended Lacuna Coil as a band in the same sort of genre - their CD 'Dark Adrenaline' is worth a listen...

You are all making me feel old. I'm hoping to see Bruce Springsteen next month in Boston. The first time I saw him, it was soon after Born to Run had been released. Hard to believe he's 62 years old.

I love going to concerts. A few weeks ago, I went to Riot Fest Chicago...I saw Andrew WK, GWAR, Dropkick Murphys, Rise Against, Elvis Costello, Gogol Bordello, and Iggy and the Stooges among others. I was there for two full days and had a great time.
Last weekend, I saw Ben Folds Five. Coming up, I have The Monkees, fun., and Lady Gaga.

Went to the Washington Opera this evening to see (for the umpteenth time) Mozart's DON GIOVANNI. SO and I wouldn't ordinarily go to see this, but our dear friend Paulo Szot was singing the role of the Don, and we just had to see him. Paulo has a wonderful international opera career, but he also does Broadway, and won a Tony for his role of Emile de Becque in the revival of SOUTH PACIFIC. It was so good to see him again!

I've got tickets for the Bridgewater Hall next month to see John Wilson and The John Wilson Orchestra in A Celebration of Rodgers & Hammerstein. He did a concert as part of the Proms that was broadcast on the TV, but it'll be much better live. The only sad bit is that we don't get Seth MacFarlane (yes, that Seth MacFarlane) who was one of the soloists at the Albert Hall.

Starting back in the 70's I have seen (to name a few) David Bowie, Slade (3 times), Queen (3 times), Mott The Hoople (3 times), Sensational Alex Harvey Band (4 times), Status Quo, Thin Lizzy, Suzi Quatro, The Sweet, Gary Glitter , Lou Reed (twice), Jeremy's favourites - Barclay James Harvest, Rory Gallagher, Sparks. More recently my fave gigs have been Mercury Rev (twice), Sparklehorse (RIP Mark) and The Flaming Lips (4 times). I also saw Rufus Wainwright a couple of years ago and am really cross that I missed out on tickets to see him again. The one band I would really love to see is The Foo Fighters. Must make an effort to add them to the list

Anyone out there in the DC area? The City Choir of Washington (with whom I sing) will be doing their first concert of their Royal Season, in honor of the 60th anniversary of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. On the program will be Handel's Four Coronation Anthems and his Dettingen Te Deum.
We also look forward to our UK tour in the summer of 2013.
