Hi Everyone
Over the next month or so (29 April - 29 May) Proboards are upgrading all their forums to their version 5.
I'm not 100% sure what to expect but over this time the board will be upgraded.
No one needs to do anything different, but one thing to note is apparently the log in section will look a bit different, but essentially you will input your user name and password as you do now
(might pay to make note of just in case).
Fingers crossed for a seamless upgrade! ;D

Not so seamless >< In order to log in here, I have to use the password I use on a different Proboards forum *gah* How the everliving fork is this possible? The password I've used here ever since I joined this board now does not work here??
Really, it's less secure this way imo. One password now gives access to all Proboard forums that I use.

Can't say I like the look of it - text is too small, I can't tell which threads have new posts on them, I don't want 'Stories from around the web' stuck at the bottom where I can't remove it, thank you very much - and that's just for starters! Why can't people just leave things alone? If it aint broke, etc.......

Yes, I noticed that nessage too and no, I've not turned it off either.
Will we get out header back at some point?

Things I HATE about the new layout  : #1: Having to go back to the top of the page to make a post or get back to the home page. #2: When you want to post a link, you press the Link button and you get a STUPID pop-up you have to press before it will put [] around the link! Instead of the automatically going around the link like it use to. #3 If you want to Preview your post before creating it, GOOD LUCK! The original post is no longer available underneath, like it use to be. And you can't get back to it to make corrections, so you have to start from the beginning! That is all for now.  |

Is there a way to make the subforum threads show up in the main forum, like they used to? You now have to navigate all in and out of the subforums to access all the new threads.

At the moment the things I hate most about this new format are:
1) It's too difficult to pick out the threads that have new posts on them - the font isn't big or bold enough
2) It now says 'so many hours' since the last post on a thread (presumably up to 24). I find that really unhelpful. I tend to post mainly in the evening or later, and I could see in terms of 'today at such-and-such time' or 'yesterday at such-and-such time' whether I'd read the previous night's posts. Now I have to do a mental calculation to work out how many hours it was since I went to bed etc, to work out whether it's a new message as far as I'm concerned. I know that all sounds very odd, but I just find it aggravating!

You can, apparently and if you wish, personalise the grey alien face to make it resemble yourself (or anybody you like).
Um. Not tried that yet, I'm slightly terrified of losing my current avatar if I remove it.
