Durbs Dumps Top Gear As Funds Dry UpMarch 3 2015 at 07:44amBy Sihle Manda Top Gear presenters Richard Hammond, James May and Jeremy Clarkson up to their usual antics during the 2014 Top Gear Festival at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, when it attracted 64 000 motoring enthusiasts. Durban - The hugely popular Top Gear Festival will not be staged in Durban. This shock revelation was made by the event organisers in a brief media statement on Monday. However, the news wasn’t unexpected. In January The Mercury reported that deputy mayor and chairwoman of eThekwini metro’s economic development and planning committee Nomvuzo Shabalala had told the committee that the city did not have money for the event. Johannesburg now looks the most likely destination. The organisers said on Monday they were looking for an alternative destination and “hope to have more news soon”. Addressing members of the committee at the time, Shabalala abruptly said: “I forgot to mention that we don’t have money for Top Gear. We don’t have it… It happens in June. Also, the World Routes Forum in September. Those are big events and we need the money.” Shabalala had been briefing the committee on tourism statistics. Top Gear said it had over the past three years enjoyed a “great relationship” with its South African fans and thanked them for their “understanding”. FRUSTRATIONThis year’s event was scheduled to be held on the weekend of 13-14 June. Frustrated show enthusiasts took to the events Facebook page to request clarity. Donella Wright wrote: “Can anyone confirm the change of venue for Top Gear Festival 2015 from Durban to Joburg ?! If true, I find it disgusting!” There had been confusion over show ticket sales, which were apparently meant to go on sale on Monday. Kamil Ramlaul asked: “Tickets were to be launched today, but nothing is on itickets. Will it really be today?” The page responded that the tickets would go on sale on March 20. Event chief operations officer James Cooke-Priest said: “Although we will not be in Durban this year, we are taking steps to stage an alternative Top Gear Live event in Johannesburg, and we will be announcing those plans shortly.” www.iol.co.za/news/south-africa/kwazulu-natal/durbs-dumps-top-gear-as-funds-dry-up-1.1826010#.VPcF9o7aQmE Durban Top Gear Festival CancelledSapa | 02 March, 2015 19:06 "Although we will not be in Durban this year we are taking steps to stage an alternative Top Gear Live event in Johannesburg and we shall be announcing those plans shortly". File photoImage by: THULI DLAMINIThe annual Top Gear festival that was due to be held in Durban will now be held in Johannesburg, event organisers announced on Monday. In a brief statement, James Cooke-Priest, chief operations officer of Top Gear Live, said: "South Africa has always been one of our favourite destinations on the tour. We have a particular fondness for the crowds we entertain here, as they are always so loud and enthusiastic and return year after year to support us. "Although we will not be in Durban this year we are taking steps to stage an alternative Top Gear Live event in Johannesburg and we shall be announcing those plans shortly". The Top Gear event featuring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May has been a hit in the city with fans of the popular BBC having descended on Durban for a number of years to attend the event. It is not known why the event was moved from Durban at such short notice. www.timeslive.co.za/local/2015/03/02/durban-top-gear-festival-cancelled

Jeremy Clarkson suspension puts BBC Top Gear Festival in Australia under a cloud19 March 2015 Nick Galvin JournalistStar of the show: Clarkson at last year's event in Sydney, which drew 46,000 fans.Fans with tickets for the BBC Top Gear Festival in Sydney are anxiously awaiting the outcome of the Jeremy Clarkson inquiry and news of whether the event will go ahead as planned. The festival, slated for April 18 and 19 at Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek, is largely built around Clarkson, the star of the TV show. Organisers of the festival, which last year drew about 46,000 motor sport fans over the two days, were playing a straight bat to enquiries about the future of the event. "There are at present no plans to either cancel or postpone the Top Gear Festival in Australia," said a statement. "As things stand, the event will go ahead as planned." Clarkson remains on suspension by the BBC after allegedly assaulting producer Oisin Tymon in what has been officially dubbed a "fracas". Relations between Clarkson and his employer have become increasingly bitter following the suspension and revelations a senior BBC executive allegedly compared Clarkson to Jimmy Savile. Both Clarkson and Tymon have now reportedly given their sides of the story to Ken MacQuarrie, the BBC manager heading up the inquiry, but there has been no comment from the corporation about when it will reach a decision. Meanwhile, support for a possible – if not entirely serious – candidate to replace Clarkson has been gathering pace. A petition at change.org entitled "Hire Alan Partridge for Top Gear" has received more than 25,000 signatures. The petition supporting the fictitious TV personality, played by Steve Coogan, recommends Partridge based on his "effortless banter" on Radio Norwich and his work on a motoring video called Crash! Bang! Wallop! "We believe this diversity of experience and his noted passion for cars puts Alan in great stead to take over as chief presenter after Clarkson's successful tenure," continues the petition. "Mr Partridge is both capable of retaining what has made the show great over the years and adding a new and vital reenergised flavour to the show." BBC Worldwide statement on Top Gear Live remaining datesCategory: BBC Worldwide BBC Worldwide statement on Top Gear Live remaining dates:BBC Worldwide statement on Top Gear Live remaining dates: “So as not to disappoint the thousands of people around the world who have already purchased tickets, BBC Worldwide has agreed with our joint venture partner Brand Events that the remainder of the tour can continue. These events will not however feature any BBC Top Gear branding or content. We believe this is a sensible approach in the circumstances.”(A decision has also been made to reschedule the Festival planned for Sydney in April until July of this year and will instead become an indoor arena show staged in both Melbourne on 18-19 July and Sydney on 25 -26 July. The live shows that were due to have taken place in Stavanger, Norway last weekend have been re-scheduled to 20-21 June. We are confirming the full details directly to ticket holders in their local markets.) Brand Events statement: “This is a great solution for the fans. We’d like to thank our ticket holders for their continued patience. The fans are the most important people to Jeremy, Richard and James so we’re delighted to be able to say ‘we’re still coming’. Clarkson Back to Rev Up SA FansSunday Times News By Staff Reporter, 2015-05-09 James May, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond will be in South Africa next month. Image: CHARLIE GRAYJeremy Clarkson cannot wait to sit down to a piping hot steak at one of his favourite Johannesburg restaurants. And after the fracas involving a steak that led to the BBC sacking him from the highly popular motoring show Top Gear, the whole world knows how important a hot meal is to the controversial star. The BBC fired him in March after he swore at and punched a Top Gear producer, Oisin Tymon, who Clarkson accused of having failed to organise hot food for him during a shoot in Yorkshire. Clarkson's two co-presenters, James May and Richard Hammond, have also quit the show. Now the trio are heading to Johannesburg as part of an international tour that is effectively Top Gear under a new name - Clarkson, Hammond & May Live. It will be their first visit to Gauteng in four years, after performing in the Top Gear Festival in Durban for several years. They are set to perform in four shows, from Friday June 12, at the Ticketpro Dome in Northgate. Top of Clarkson's list of things to do in South Africa is visit what he says is his favourite Sandton restaurant, The Butcher Shop & Grill. "I worked out the other day that the foreign city I've been to most often is Johannesburg. I've been there more than I've been to Paris, which is remarkable," he said. Organisers of the new 90-minute arena show say it will feature all the supercars, stunts, explosions, tyre smoke and irreverent humour that fans have come to expect. The creative director, Rowland French, said: "The three presenters have been working incredibly hard to make sure it's better than ever before, and I'm certainly looking forward to seeing them back doing what they do best." Clarkson said the show would be "really, really, really good fun". "After many years of practice, it's a good show now. People are appreciative of it when it's over and say: 'That was good fun.' Although a friend of mine did once describe it as every headache he'd ever had, condensed into an hour and a half," he said. "People think that to sell tickets and do arena shows, you've got to have white teeth and bouffant hair, which of course Richard does have. "But James and I are a reassurance to the audience that it's OK, you can still do it even if you're a bit fat and you look 20 years older than you actually are. I'm only 32. We give people hope. They look at themselves in the mirror and say: 'I am a disgrace. I look awful, but those two also look awful.'" Clarkson added: "The people in South Africa are fantastic. For the sheer volume of appreciative noises, South Africa's the best." Hammond also sang the praises of South African fans. "They're not going to stop themselves having a good time by being restrained. They've gone out for a good time, and they're going to make sure they have one," he said. The trio have been filming in the UK for the live show. A promotional video is due to hit South African screens next week. They will be joined on the tour - which also takes in Australia and Norway - by American rally driver Ken Block, who will be bringing his highly modified Ford Mustang. Clarkson has previously courted criticism by, among other things, referring to an Asian man by the pejorative term "slope". Last year he was taped reciting the nursery rhyme Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, and saying "Catch a n***** by his toe" as he chose between two cars. According to The Guardian, Clarkson called BBC executives "f****** bastards" at a charity event after he was suspended from Top Gear. Clarkson Hammond and May LIVE: South AfricaI had an absolute BLAST in South Africa this past weekend, doing six shows for Clarkson, Hammond and May Live. Hooned my Ford Mustang Hoonicorn RTR, raced in some crazy contraptions, played "car soccer", and more. Here are a few of my favorite action/event shots from there. Enjoy! Stoked to be reunited with these three dudes today during media day for the Clarkson, Hammond and May Live show. You may recognize them from a certain popular automotive TV program. Ha. Stoked to be a part of their live show this weekend here in South Africa! Wrapped up driving my first day of the Clarkson, Hammond and May Live show here in Johannesburg, South Africa. Two shows down, four left to go this weekend! Such a fun way give my Ford Mustang Hoonicorn RTR its first ever public appearance. GoPro Hero 4 action shots from car soccer. One of the top 10 most fun things I've ever done in a car! Overhead view of car soccer. I was representing the South African team... we ended up winning! I may or may not have swapped a lot of paint with Clarkson during car soccer. This game can get HEATED. Celebrating my car soccer win with a car-to-car jump transfer. Mr. Jeremy Clarkson came out on stage in typical Jeremy fashion: questionably in control of a hovercraft. James May looks on as a group of FMX riders take on a jump challenge. This dude got eliminated, as you can see. Ha. Part of my involvement in the show included doing a four-scooter-drive chariot race with the other presenters. Sketchy fun! Waving hello to the presenters as I slide past them during my freestyle hoon session intro. The South African crowd was awesome. The stands were packed during every show! Final goodbye of the final Clarkson, Hammond and May Live show. Special thanks to the very enthusiastic South African crowds - you were awesome! Working with these three dudes is always a pleasure, and this weekend was exceptionally fun. Until next time, SA. www.facebook.com/KenBlockRacing/photos_streamKen Block Facebook

Clarkson Hammond and May Live: behind the scenes Big thanks to everyone involved in the Clarkson, Hammond and May Live Show this past weekend in Johannesburg, South Africa! I had so much fun in those shows, and hanging out with the former Top Gear crew. Here are some shots from behind the scenes of my visit to SA. Check 'em out. Mr. Clarkson, Hammond, and May have seen and driven some of the most incredible vehicles in the world - so I was honored to show them my Ford Mustang Hoonicorn RTR's underpinnings, per their request. Three of my favorite presenters with my current favorite car. Yep, it was a damn good time! Did a fun Q+A/chat with my buddy James May at a VIP banquet after finishing day two of Clarkson, Hammond and May Live shows. We talked about everything from our first cars we owned, to that time I took him off a jump in an airfield for an episode of Top Gear and he thought we were flying off a cliff instead. Good times! Amazing gift from the Clarkson, Hammond and May Live presenters, including the exact moment of the show when they made the crowd give me a group LOSER salute. Ha. Ken Block Facebook

Men jeg tror Stavanger er mer «meg» Eks-«Top Gear»-programledere i Norge. Jeremy Clarkson told Dagbladet: - I've got a job offer from Russian military channels. But I think Stavanger is more 'me' Ex- "Top Gear" -programledere in Norway.Video : Halvor Solhjem Njerve / Dagbladet reporter : Pål Nordseth / DagbladetSTAVANGER (Dagbladet): Noen minutter over klokka elleve i dag landet Jeremy Clarkson (55), James May (52) og Richard Hammond (45) på Sola lufthavn.
Mangler The Stig
(ENGLISH)- STAVANGER (Dagbladet): A few minutes over at eleven today landed Jeremy Clarkson (55), James May (52) and Richard Hammond (45) at Sola Airport. The trio will be in Stavanger Sunday to hold four live show on Sørmarka arena. They have canceled all interviews with the Norwegian press due to a hectic schedule. Calls for atlas
Although the first show will take place already in the evening, it should still be practiced and worked on the script, get Dagbladet lit from Cat Dean of Brand Events, which produces live show. The trio took still time for a little chat outside the arrival hall at Sola. When used Clarkson including the opportunity to ironize over tour the three have now started the process under the banner "Clarkson, Hammond and May Live."
- We come from Johannesburg, is in Stavanger and will continue to Perth and Sydney. South Africa, Norway and Australia. Someone should buy an atlas, for this could not very well have been put up less sensible, sneer the famous Briton who was fired from the BBC after having been in physical fights with "Top Gear" producer - reportedly because he was not served hot food on set. Receiving job offers- What is the weirdest job offer you are given after having joined with "Top Gear"?
- I was asked by the Russian military-tv if I could lead a car program for them, claiming Clarkson, before he recognizes Hammonds suggestions that the Russians really wanted to enlist him as a special soldier. - It might have been interesting?
- Interestingly, the word - and easier terrifying. No, I think this is more peaceful. Stavanger is more 'me', says Clarkson Dagbladet before he sits down in the waiting Range Rover which will take him to the arena. Think they'll bust
The other two have received some inquiries by BBC Exit. May and Hammond said up jobs in the British general broadcaster shortly after Clarkson had been kicked out. - I have received an offer to be waiter in the local pub, wash cars and make Saturday deliveries for a slaughterhouse, alleges May. - I want to go with the newspaper. I just have to fix my bike first, says Hammond. The three Britons, who have earned millions on his popular television program and their live tours, expecting to have fun during their stay in Norway - but fears the price level.
- We probably wont to run out of money, says James May. - Therefore, we only eat simple, and does not drink, says Hammond. Deficiencies The Stig
According to the show's creative director, changes were made in the show since it visited Telenor Arena in Bærum last November. - From Clarkson was dismissed and all three were out of the BBC they spent about three weeks to write about the show. Much of the show is written about. The design is made by a production company. Script writing themselves, says Rowland French in CHM Live. - It's probably easier for them to be "cheeky" when they act under its own brand. Banning hardly exist on general broadcast television in England. Beyond that there are changes in materials that relate to trademarks BBC own, such as "The Stig", said French and refers to the masked test driver in "Top Gear." www.kjendis.no/2015/06/19/kjendis/top_gear/jeremy_clarkson/motor/richard_hammond/39753079/NORGESAKTUELLE Biltrioen Jeremy Clarkson , Richard Hammond og James May ankommer Sola flyplass i Stavanger tidligere i dag. Ex-Top Gear host promises ‘everything we’ve got’ for live shows Down UnderEx-Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond. (Supplied)12:13pm June 26, 2015 Car guru Richard Hammond says he and long-time colleagues Jeremy Clarkson and James May are ready to turn the heat up next month as they battle a team of Australian drivers in an all-out battle for vehicular supremacy. "We're coming. We're serious. We're bringing everything we've got," he told 9news.com.au. The concept of the old Australia-England rivalry is at the forefront of the new series of live July shows in Perth and Sydney, where the ex-Top Gear boys will take on an Aussie team consisting of comedian Shane Jacobson, race driver Steve Pizzati and V8 Supercars reporter Riana Crehan. Across two shows in Perth Arena and two in Sydney's Allphones Arena, the two sides will go head-to-head in a number of car sports including car rugby, V8 cricket and sidecar polo to see who gets bragging rights to "The Cr-Ashes". Hammond said the idea of building the shows around The Cr-Ashes came about as he, Clarkson and May tried to think of something "special" to do for their Australian fans. "We love coming to Australia because of all the like-minded people there," he said. "Australians and Brits have been locked in this serious competition forever." Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and James May are heading Down Under. (Supplied)He said Australian audiences could be counted on to enjoy the friendly contest - even if "by some miracle" the old country came out on top. However, the shows will not be all about sporting battles and ancient rivalries. Hammond promised "incredible displays" of cars and driving and the entertainment of seeing he, Clarkson and May trying to stay in control. "Things happen in a live show that you can't plan for, that you can't predict," he said. "(The audience) want to see us as we are." Hammond and May followed Clarkson after the controversial BBC presenter was fired from hit show Top Gear for allegedly attacking a producer in March. Clarkson left the BBC after allegedly attacking a Top Gear producer. (Supplied)Clarkson has since confirmed the trio would present a new car show together - reportedly on streaming service Netflix - but Hammond would not be drawn on any details. "There's nothing yet I can tell you - not because I want to keep secrets but because there's nothing to tell yet," he said. "We'll not stop doing what we're doing until audiences want us to."
