Aaaw bless James & his Spam. Incidentally if he wants a good roast dinner cooked by someone else, he should come to the Sunday carveries at my mum's pub. Three meats with all the trimmings (Yorkshire puds are homemade) peas, mushy peas, carrots, swede, boiled & roast & mashed & garlic potatoes, runner beans, cauliflower cheese, parsnips, cabbage, broadbeans etc. Not to mention a choice of over a dozen homemade desserts. All washed down with a bottle of the local real ale.

I know we are not supposed to be talking SPAM, but I found some, and am going to try it out and see what the appeal is!! If I am never heard from again, it was a rogue batch.....

Good luck banned. ;D Cheeselova - I'm hungry again now. Your mums pub sounds wonderful. Remind us all again exactly where it is and what's it called in case anyone is in the area.

Okay then. And if anyone would like to come this side of Christmas (the carveries will be taking on a Christmas flavour from the first Sunday in December) you can PM me for directions. It's in Wales. Obviously. The Penybont Inn, Llanfynydd, Carmarthenshire. Hold on there is a website:- www.penybont-inn.co.uk

Tis a lovely place. Unfortunately the carvery isnt taken in the "oakbeamed restaurant" which is part of the original 17th century building. That's where they used to have it until the numbers got too much for the restaurant. Now it's in the function hall which is nearest to the kitchen which makes sense in one way. If anyone is down that way the inn does a very good B&B. It's very relaxed, typically South Walian (ie friendly and no airs & graces) and the countryside is beautiful.

I tried to persuade my bro-in-law to have a 'business' event and invite James as guest speaker. Now having seen how much he charges I can understand why he said no. For that price I want a guarantee of marriage

Yes. I did a fair amount of Spam in the 70s too - but I don't think I've seen a tin since then. Mind you, being a *whispers* vegetarian (sort of) I suppose it's not top of my shopping list anymore.

I'm going to develop a conceptual art peice around Spam, now should I carve it into interesting space or mount tins on gold plinths?

Post by lymaze on Jan 8, 2008 10:04:48 GMT
How about incorporating the tin with the meat. Hundreds of them all combined in a sort of monstrous spam creature, part "meat" part metal.
